Accepted!!!

Accepted! Now just waiting on Yale.

@purpleroses yeah, I got a nice slim envelope in the mail today from Brown (I live in the Northeast)…but an hour later I got a wonderful decision from UPenn…weird how the world works sometimes

Accepted to CAS! I am speechless.

Also accepted to CAS, also speechless.

Who else was accepted into Wharton?

accepted! i can’t believe it. rejected from brown & still waiting on barnard and yale.

Hey guys for those that get accepted, can you guys pls share your stats & indicate whether you apply for sophomore year or junior year? Thanks X)

accepted as a sophomore transfer to CAS!!
I am also beyond speechless… If people are wondering about my stats, I was top 3 in my high school class, a lot of ECs, 2330 SATS, my college gpa is not that good (but over 3.5), okay recs from college professors… I come from a top 15 school.

I think the main key is your essays. You really want to show them who you are and why Penn would be a perfect fit for you. What doesn’t your current college have that Penn can provide for you.

Im a junior transfer into CAS I agree essays are most important. My university is in the 150s lol

@cordova1992 Congrats! Were your high school grades good? But as a junior transfer, they matter a bit less.

Accepted to the CAS as a junior transfer. I am super shocked.

First, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who posted on here during this entire time. I really didn’t have much to say, so I abstained. But you all really made me feel like there were others who were understanding my struggles. The solidarity I silently shared with you all was very helpful and I appreciate it very much.

OK, so the stats:

HS GPA- 4.67 gpa (weighted)
I was homeschooled, so class rank and stuff really didn’t play a role.
SAT:
CR- 780
M- 700
W- 700
HS EC’s- Part time work (I worked on a strawberry farm for years, I wrote my extracurricular CA essay on this experience), Debate Club, Music (Have been playing the piano for 10 years now) and generic volunteer work. Blah. :/

College: I attend a really tiny liberal arts college in upstate SC. Not even on the national radar in any shape or form. Goes to show you that no one should be discouraged from applying; you never know what might happen!
I’m a history major btw.
College GPA- 4.0
EC’s- Student Government Association (Class Senator, Class President, Chaired a couple of committees), Piano Ensemble, 3 Choirs.
My recommendations were solid. My essays were pretty good (though I wrote them in one sitting and didn’t proofread ).

I know there was a lot of concern over what the midterm reports meant. In my situation, I was never asked for a midterm report and I never sent one. This might be due to the fact I was applying as a junior transfer, but take it as you will.

Also, is anyone aware if there is a Facebook group being made for accepted transfers? I feel like we need one. :D

Would anyone who was accepted mind sharing their essays with me?

I was rejected despite having strong stats, so maybe my essays were lacking… I’d just like to get a vibe for what they’re looking for, although i understand it’s different for everyone.

Thanks in advance!

Rejected - Mechanical Engineering

4.00 GPA, Penn specific essays, great letters of recommendation, lots of outside engineering experience.

Rejected - but congratulations to everyone who was accepted!

accepted to wharton 4.0 college gpa at top 40 school, great essay, and tons of Ec

Accepted as junior to CAS, got the message at the airport as soon as I landed in Korea. I’m a Canadian student attending McGill. Surreal experience, all glory to Jesus! Do we have a facebook group for accepted transfers?

@shadglore: yes man!!! Can’t wait to meet u as well. Did u get funded to cornell?

Declined from CAS. :(

I was expecting it, not too upset. Sent in my deposit to NYU last night instead.

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted!

Accepted to Arts and Sciences. Ah I have no clue whether I should transfer or not! I love my current college but Penn is much, much closer to home and has more opportunities and networking.

Some basic stats:
