The religion one was definitely German...I picked it up from Mennonite (Amish, still speak German to this day)

The "US Expansion" one too...I don't quite remember the answers, but spreading Christianity was definitely a reason. I believe that we did something with the Philippines because Taft had a dream about how we should do this and that and Christianize these brown people.

Amish? I'm from Lancaster County, maybe we live near eachother.

I though all of the other answers made sense though, which is why I went with converting. I though all were applicable, and I just chose the weakest.

Employers and Employees- Eugene V. Debs is the right answer

searched on google:
Eugene Debs held memberships and official positions in two late 19th century labor unions: the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen (BLF) and the American Railway Union (ARU). Later, he joined a group of labor radicals to found the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). Debs promoted workers right to organize unions and to strike in order to protect their interests, for shorter hours, and for restrictions on child labor.

Jane Addams was settlement houses
Teddy just busted trusts

the other question dealt with roman catholics...not 5 different religions...and catholics was not one of those religions...

and debs might be right (i almost picked it) but the passage doesn't really sound to be much in favor of the workers. and debs is clearly pro-labor....

but then again, there isn't really any other choice except teddy. addams is involved with econ as well besides the hull house but she is more of a pacifist...

Hmm, do you remember any of the other choices? If that was the question, I definately would have put Italy and Spain, but I honestly don't remember it.

Wow. I don't remember that question, Vehement. Unless you're referring to the question where they listed a bunch of religions (Roman Catholic, Mennonite, Schwenkfelder,etc)...that answer was Germany.

However, if there was a question asking specifically about Roman Catholics, it would be Ireland and Germany.

ya i was deciding between Ireland and Germany and the other pair. the rest are definately wrong btw...

but aren't german protestants? isn't it founded by luther in germany?

edit: In Europe, Catholic majorities are found in Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Monaco, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain. Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, as well as Northern Ireland, are about equally divided between Catholics and Protestants. In the Czech Republic, Roman Catholics make up 39% of the population. Catholics are a significant minority in Britain, where their faith underwent a revival in the 19th and early 20th Century after three centuries of persecution and official repression.

since they are all on the list, i think you are right...

The quote regarding the confliction between employers and workers - No answer* (Choice between Teddy, Eugene V. Debs and Jane Addams)

I put Debs too. They would have to be complete jerks to put a question about the division between the managerial class and working class, and have Debs as a wrong answer.

I alwas try to make them more complicated than they seem. For example, the question regarding 'achieving the goal by all means", I eliminated MX because he is too obvious. And now this....lame :(

vehement the religion one has to be German, "Schwenkfelder" lol what sounds more German than that?

And its most certainly Debs. Sure Debs advocated labor but the passage was talking about a truth in american society more than anything - that is labor suffer at the hands of the capitalists. The other answers were way off as well.

FOr the jimmy carter presidency one i put human rights, cause wasnt' he the one that got a noble prize for that? adn i also remember reading about his presidency's only success was on the human rights things.

I remember both questions, ahighschooler, but the possible M/C are pretty fuzzy. Can you recall some choices?

The Frontier theory question asked what Turner thought the existence of a frontier produced in society. Hmm...what were those possible choices?..think...I believe I said it provided social stratification.

For the Indian tribes, I know it wasn't the Iroquois (that was the British). I don't think I put Hopi/Zuni either. Anyone know the correct answer/ have proof of it? I vaguely recall studying this during the colonial period in APUSH, and we learned that the Spaniards used Indian tribes to start riots with Georgia, who served as a buffer state against the natives for the prosperous South Carolina plantations. Perhaps it was the Narrangesset?

...I just realized that I might be confusing that Frontier question with a simlar one I had on one of my practice tests...so unless someone can confirm it, take it with a grain of salt please! :)
