Is anyone considering attending the transfer day? I’m driving from Nor Cal. Also, do you think it would be in my best interest to ONLY apply to USC on the common app? As I figure the ad com’s at USC want to look after their yield rate furthermore favoring me.

Never heard of this before. Thousands of students apply via the CA to numerous schools and I’m positive doing so does not harm their application in any way.

I think prerequisites and GPA weigh more than GEs. Although USC recommends you take them, if you look at the accepted thread some applicants finish them all while others only completed one or two.

Yeah, I remember you telling me, the thing is that Marshall has so many applicants, so you really don’t know if you are going to get in or not.

But you have to think positive and write about the W’s in your app

Is there a place in the common app to explain things?

Yeah that is why Im so nervous ;/. They actually allow for you to explain your performance issues in the common app in this section; " Please upload a document here if you wish to provide details of circumstances or qualifications not reflected in the application. " Any idea how much USC takes EC’s into consideration?

I’m applying to USC as a computer engineering major. My only concern is that right now I’m just doing precalculus, and I think viterbi engineering school requires calculus 1 and 2 already done. Now dont get me wrong, I’m taking Calc 1 in the spring and Calc 2 in the summer, so they will definitely be done by the time I transfer to USC (if I get in lol) in fall 2012. Does anyone have any experience with having prerequisites in progress by the time you submit your application?

According to last year’s thread, a USC transfer director stated ECs are not weighed into your application in fairness to other applicants who might not be able to do ECs. Seemed odd but the claim was supported by others who were at the transfer session/conference.

You’ll most likely receive a Spring Grade Request if the courses are prerequisites. I would also check to see if they allow you to take a prerequisite in the summer because the majority of schools want the prerequisites completed by the spring. It never hurts to email/call and double check.

EC’s are not counted due to fairness? I dont see the connection in this statement. If anything I would think USC would love EC’s due to showing the drive of someone to go out there and get a job/network with others vs someone who has no will/motivation to do so. For some reason I thought EC’s were a major factor for Marshall. If they dont consider my EC’s I wont stand a chance in the application pool ;/.

I’m applying as Undeclared. I am considering the sciences pretty strongly, so I’ll probably put Biology or Biological Sciences as my second choice. I hope that me being Undeclared doesn’t put me at a disadvantage. :

@gousc the ad reps told me that if you are not admitted into your major you will be evaluated again to be admitted to the school as undeclared so I would like bio as your first choice

Well I meant for the regular Personal Statement. Last year they gave us an option of 3 to choose from. Actually what I meant to ask is if the questions are out yet and what are they?
