Official USC 2013 Transfer Thread

I know this has probably been already asked/answered, but what are the chances of getting an admissions decision in May? Rather, what’s the earliest you could get a decision?

can someone reply to my post on the previous page please… an answer would be greatly appreciated

@andrewswan I already completed the eng req and currently taking the math course that transfers to their calc req.
@crownofesea thanks so much. I started from a 2 yr college and I am here at Davis. I wanted to stay at my cc but parents would not let me.
@rasd765 thanks for that. When I was on their website I saw that tidbit too.

I called and they said its too late to change my major but I just emailed my admissions counselor and I am waiting a response on that.

@seets3000 I read on a previous thread that there have been early things like that. I got my SGR last year pretty early…around April.

@iloveasianguys,

Well, good luck with everything, feel free to ask if you have any more questions. I remember you from the Fall 2011 thread haha, I was pretty active on there.

@Yoshi45:

The more foreign language and GE classes you complete, the less you’ll have to take once you get to USC, giving you more schedule space to focus on your major requirements. The fact that you graduated doesn’t “close up” your courses; whether you’re currently attending the school or not doesn’t change if your courses are transferable to USC. Your CC may have an articulation agreement with USC (a document that lists your school’s courses and their equivalencies with USC), so you can Google it or talk to an academic counselor at your CC/USC.

It doesn’t matter how many GE’s you complete before applying to USC; it only affects the grade level into which you transfer. There are, however, a few GE’s that you HAVE to take at USC and can’t be cleared at a CC; WRIT 340 is one example and I still need to take it.

Also, all you can do right now is continue to live your life, work hard, study hard, and your acceptance packet in the mail will come that much faster. Good luck!

@crownofthesea thanks so much. I really really hope I get in. And really? :open_mouth: that’s cool! :smiley:

btw for those of you who got in, do you get an email or just the packet in the mail?

@silverrex can you please look at my response and hopefully respond? thanks! ^^ and would you mind telling me your stats…

oh and since usc accepts a max of 64 trans. units, is that in semester units? because right now, I have 64 quarter units and I don’t know if they’re both the same but I know I think I have to divide quarter by like 2.5 to transfer it to sem. terms.

SilverRex, do you know why Annenberg really wants you to complete your foreign language reqs before transferring? I’m wrapping up my third semester of Spanish this semester in an effort to appease the Admissions panel, but I was curious as to why this seems to be the case (in that that I was specifically told get it done when I visited the campus).

does the college transcript need to be mailed by my college? or can i mail it to usc myself?

^ I think for the transcripts to be official they have to be sent by your school.

Yeah, that’s pretty much always the case. Most schools put watermarks and seals on the transcript itself (as well as the envelope) stating that the transcript is void if it arrives in anything BUT a sealed envelope. I’m assuming that USC (or any major school) would be skeptical of a transcript that was not mailed directly from another institution.

Do HS transcripts need to be sent by the HS itself? My former counselor that I am still in touch with gave me my official HS transcript and I sent it to USC Admissions myself. Would that be fine?

@alaintran9 you can send HS transcript yourself. However, they need to have the school’s official seal with their envelope.
@crownofthesea and silverrex…I can change my major. I asked my admin counselor at SC and she said I can but I have to email her a statement. Now, since I am allowed to, do you guys think this will look bad or be looked down upon? She did not say whether I have to say why though.

Thanks guys!

@alaintran9 I sent mine in myself (I got an official copy if my transcript after I graduated last year) and it’s listed as a received document on USConnect. I think either way is fine.

My HS and college transcripts still show up under required documents, but I sent them. Anyone else experiencing the same?

@basketballer123 I have the same thing show up for my HS and college transcript too. I called the admission office and they said it takes about 2 weeks from when they receive it to process the transcripts. So just keep checking. Hope this helps.

@bycity94 Thanks haha. Glad I’m not the only one.

I mailed in my HS transcript about 4 weeks ago, and I checked my required documents on USC connect today and is now on the Received end! They probably have it, just takes time.

Hello, i have applied for fall '13 and where should i send my high school and college transcripts to? and do they have to be official transcripts (means sealed)? thank you so much!

@panda I may be wrong, but if you have not sent in anything yet, you are behind the curve. I think everything was due beginning of Feb.
