Thank you for the post Randomnewguy, I appreciate it. I just have one question. How did you fulfill this w/o graduating high school?

“You must submit secondary school records and proof of graduation. At minimum, your high school record should consist of 16 year-long courses, including 13 in academic solids and up to three in acceptable electives.”

I am curious as to how you did it because I don’t think I have all of these courses finished in high school. Do these requirements even matter?

Looking at his classes I assume he is going into marshall which has no language requirement right?

@ccstudentIL

Great job, hopefully you get admitted cuz that would mean I will as well, its like ur my academic twin, even for high-school, im even taking physics this hopefully last semester at my CC, are you applying to any scholarships? I suppose you are applying to marshall

To answer your question, I have not looked into scholarships yet although I probably should pretty soon. To answer your second question, yes I am applying to Marshall.

I hope you get admitted too cuz that would mean I would have a chance lol. I’m really not sure what to expect though, I’m rattled. My counselors were of no help when I asked them the caliber of schools I should be applying to.

Btw, are you going to send the final report, midterm report, registrars report?

Also, how important are GE requirements when it comes to applying? That’s the one part of my application I’m completely missing. I have the specific department requirements but none for the GE. My courses were focused primarily to transfer to Umich,UIUC, and UW-madison which are all schools near where I live. Plz let me know, thanks.

That totally varies depending on school. I’m not well suited to giving advice to Marshall majors. I know for my school (Annenberg), they place heavy emphasis on knocking out as
many GEs as possible.

USC pretty much has a rule that after a certain number of transferrable college units (I think it was 30), a high school diploma or GED is no longer required. Admissions basically assumes that if you can complete the equivalent of a year’s worth of college courses, you could probably complete high school.

They still require the transcript for whatever reason and I was forced to drive down to a dodgy old building to exhume the remains of my high school record. It was sad.

Applying to USC (Marshall) for fall 2014, had a couple of questions.

Does anyone know the timetable for when we have to send the registrar report , mid report and final report? And do we just mail them to the admissions office or is it through the common app?

Thanks and good luck to everyone else applying!

I am applying to USC for Bus Admin 14. Is there a section on the common app where you attach your transcripts? Or how and when am I suppose to send in my transcripts?

Hello everyone -
I was recommended to this forum from a fellow CCer because I have a few questions. Do you think I can get in (assuming my portfolio is pretty good - check some art work out here at http://wyattdemastersart.blogspot.com ) to the school of architecture at USC with these statistics?

ACT:31 comp (one sitting)
HS GPA: 3.9/4.1w
AP’s: European History (5), AB Calc (5), Studio Art (3), 2-D Design (4), Spanish (4).
Rank: 27/273
Tons of EC’s.
Graduated with Honors Merit.

College GPA: 3.93 as of first semester w/ 13 credit hours.
Next semester: 5 classes, including a 300 level Spanish. (for the most part I’ve been knocking out gen ed’s because I am undeclared at LMU)
Total credits at the end of this year: 47 (19 are from AP’s and placement testing)
Work 2 jobs part-time.
Two recommendation letters from first semester professors - I think they will be good.

I also applied last year as a freshman and was denied :/. Any response would be appreciated - thanks guys!

opinion on what to put in additional information/comments section: does it sound nice/professional if i explain my grades and how poor they were. i went to cc my first year and tbh i didn’t take it seriously plus i was dealing with my aunt’s health as she had cancer, which put a lot of stress on my mom thus making me stressed out. my second year of college, i transferred to davis and my aunt had surgery making my mom stressed out and me stressed out. not to mention my first two years of college i had the mindset i was going to be a pharmacist, i.e i was taking all chem bio hard stuff but i have decided to do business so now as a third year back in cc i showed improvement as as i got a 4.0 in the fall by taking the necessary classes for business. should i explain all of this to usc or will they know/get it by looking at my past app since i applied there last year as a pharm applicant with my poor grades. please let me know…thanks!!!

@successiA You should send in all the docs within a week or two of submitting the common app. That’s what I’m doing and what a lot of transfers do. The registrar report is an invite thing on the commonapp. Input the email of your “dean of enrollment services” or whoever does that.

@skyponpon The transcript is separate. Call or visit the counseling office at your sign school and tell them to send official transcript to USC.

@iloveasianguys I wouldn’t use the essay space on that. Maybe in the “additional info” section

Maybe I didn’t be giving advice, since technically we are all competing for USC Marshall seats :)

I’m confused about the same thing. Do we need to fill out the final report when sending high school transcripts? Does USC also require midterm reports?

Hi everyone, I have a quick question.
USC has indicated that transfer students are supposed to complete two semesters of writing courses, but my school (a LAC) does not provide those courses. I sent an email to the admission office to explain the situation and haven’t got their replies yet. I am so worried that I am going to be disqualified for application because of this.

Clordia,
I believe they require those classes. I could not get the classes at my cc so I took both those courses at a different cc. Yes it involved driving in rush hour traffic and night classes both times but it was worth it. See if you can take the classes at another cc. I was admitted to USC after 1 year at cc.

Hey guys. I am currently working on my USC transfer application and I had a quation… I am lost on the registrar’s report… I listed an email of a staff member from admissions and records (could not find someone with a position labeled “registrar”) and she emailed me back saying she wasn’t a registrar and did not know what to do. I am going to go to my school tomorrow and try and figure this out, but does anyone have any insight on this. I would really appreciate it, thanks!

ALSO does anyone know if usc compares this application with your old application? or if they take weight into how many times you have applied in the past?? :O

@ccstudentIL yes it should be something like university park address something like that. i don’t have their address on hand and make sure it says attn: undergraduate admissions (i think) hope i helped!
