Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

Hi, I know people have already asked about this but who should I assign as my academic evaluator if I’m not close with my professors at college or my academic advisor? Should I just request a LOR from my high school teacher?

Woah woah…what does eat a deposit mean?
If it’s about money I’m damn poor, I cannot afford to drop money for no reason.

Man I wish USC would respond sooner :(

Anyone care to “chance me”?

Applying to Marshall
-3.94 GPA
-54 Units complete, 12 in progress
-All GE’s done (science w/lab done by spring)
-Math/English done, Both A’s
-Legacy, Work Experience, PTK, Decent/good essay.

More than likely you are in, looking at the stats, but nothing is ever 100% guaranteed

I’m pretty sure this was asked before but can somebody clear up what this “Registrar” and “Academic Evaluator” thing is? I applied last year and these weren’t on the application. Is the Academic Evaluator basically a letter of rec? If so, are we allowed to mail it if our professor already wrote one?

Hey, i just have a simple question. Is it ok if i have my CC directly mail my transcript to USC, or must i upload/fax it? I only ask because my CC told me mailing would be fine, and i requested that a couple of weeks ago. However, when i check USCONNECT, it says that the transcript is still is required from me…

@trojfan131 i feel that mailing would be the proper way since it has to be official that means it should be sealed. i mailed my official transcripts from my cc over there.

@basketballer123 registrar is someone from your registrar’s office that has access to your grades/records and academic evaluator is a teacher/prof that can speak on your behalf of your academic performance. so yes…it is. i’m not sure about that. you should ask usc since it says on the common app site that you need to “assign” a recommender. so you should ask your prof. if it’s okay. then put his/her contact info down. but call usc to make sure. but that is what i did.

@lyxhkx is this your first year in college? i feel that it would be better for it to be from college (i.e prof/academic advisor) but you should call usc to ask. i remember i needed a rec when i applied last year and i wasn’t close with my prof. but what i did was i asked one of them and she said yes so i offered (since i was at ucd and it’s hard to know prof.) my resume and personal statement so she can know me better and write a better letter of rec having known my background. so what you can do is talk to one of your prof and ask if she/he can write one for you (or an academic advisor) and offer your personal statement or resume or if you want to sit down and tell him/her a little bit about yourself. but like i said, call usc to ask if they can accept one from hs

@stanx89 i’m almost done. just need to revise my essay and submit away. good luck!

can someone please give their opinion on my situation? i was thinking of putting this in the additional info section but i don’t know if it’s nice/sounds prof: i want to explain my poor grades. so my first year in cc i admit i did not take it seriously. second year ( uc davis ) i was on my own for my first time. i was treated so badly by people, lab partner, ta, which then affected my academic performance and my overall mood (sad, lonely, depressed) plus my first two years i was preparing for a chem degree (i.e taking hard classes) now, i am back at cc and i changed my major to business. thus far, my grades have been better and my overall mood is better. ALSO, my first two years of college, i have been dealing with my aunt having cancer, which affected my mom’s stress/health, which affects me. should i put all of this in the additional info or not?? if so, how can i word it so it would sound nice/prof? I would really greatly appreciate some feedback!!! :)

To be honest, this thread didn’t do too good of a job explaining what this registrar thing is because on the USC transfer FAQ site, it says the registrar report is NOT required.
[FAQs - USC Undergraduate Admission](http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/faq/transfer_students.html)
Please refer to the last question.

A quick question:
Do we only get USCONNECT username after we submitted com app?

^you use your email:)

Can we select SAT scores to send or do we have to send all?

Called today and the Counselor said I could even assign my email on the registrar report, she said it didnt even matter

Just got an email for a hangout with USC Transfer students, who will join?

@fdominguez: You don’t need an email for the report though, you just have to put the registrar’s name. E-mail is optional, because when you don’t put it, it just gives you the offline option (mailing in).

According to the USC website, it says all decisions will be mailed by June 3rd/SGR’s. Does this mean that some decisions will come before then? I remember seeing in previous decision threads that people had received admission packages as early as May 7th or so.

I’ll be at the hangout.
I do hope I get notified of admission before June!
I had my dean send the registrar report along with my transcript just to be safe.
She opted out of submitting them online & we chose to mail them.

@xsayax

You are right, my point though, was that accordong to the transfer lady from SC it doesn’t matter

hi guys,
my grades recently dropped significantly this last semester
I am applying to marshall and i was jut wonder what my chances are
i have a 3.6 with a w and will not finish my accounting and economic prereqs by the end of spring. But my math and english are complete. I have a lot of extra cirriculars(school clubs leadership positions etc), business internships, and work experience. What do you guys think?

how do i get my sat scores submitted? i have lost access to the email i used for the SATs in high school.

Also, if the application is due feb.1 and usc receives my transcripts late, does this mean im screwed?

@uscindian: send your scores through collegeboard
I’m curious about the transcripts too.

do we have to send in AP scores now too or only if we’re accepted?

@randombookie

I think you wait until after you’re accepted.
