^ quit being lazy call USC and ask. People have answered your question a thousand times in the previous pages.
It’s irritating that people won’t do their own research.

Research is defined as
1
: careful or diligent search
2
: studious inquiry or examination; especially : investigation or experimentation aimed at the discovery and interpretation of facts, revision of accepted theories or laws in the light of new facts, or practical application of such new or revised theories or laws
3
: the collecting of information about a particular subject

USC has stated on their official website, the registrar report is not required for admission.

I definitely did the same thing. I stalked cc since high school so you can imagine how long ive been anticipating this moment. I’ll be super disappointed if i dont get in haha.

were you school specific on your personal essay?

Can I apply as undecided if I will have 60 credits in my home college by the end of this semester? All of these classes were 100+ level but I don’t know what will transfer and will not. I am an out of state student and I feel like at least 3 of my 60 credits will not transfer, thus making me eligible to apply as undecided.

Try looking for an articulation history with your school.

@coolkid094
Very, very school specific on my essays, basically told USC how much I love them and how much everyone else should. Where are you at now?

You can still go as undecided, Junior status(which would require you to choose major), as stated in the transfer brochure is considered 64 units; therefore, under their own criteria you are still a sophomore and can declare undecided on your major.

you can apply undecided if you have less than 64 transferable credits. So technically you’re good for applying undecided.

@usc2usc

Yeah, i did the same with my essays. Im originally from Houston, Texas but I live in Honolulu, hawaii. I go to Hawaii Pacific University (second top school in hawaii under University of Hawaii). Its a private school that is really well known to USC. However Im dying to go to LA even though its nothing compared to here lol.

I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii. I am from Jacksonville, Fl, and currently attending the University of South Carolina. However, my dad used to live in LA part time so I am pretty familiar with area and have always loved SC.

My stats are currently
12 hours (18 in progress)
4.0 gpa (expected 4.0)
Good essays
All transferrable course according to articulation history.

So would it be advisable to make my common app essay school specific to USC if that’s the only school im applying to or would admissions frown upon this for me not following directions?

Yeah you should, its the best ever. My sister goes to usc right now and lives in LA and ive been there a few times and visited the school.

55 transferable credits at end of spring, 40 right now
3.68 gpa
spectacular essays, gave very good and personal reasons

You applying to any back up schools?

@uscindian

I think its a great idea. Theres actually a debate that says that being school specific would be bad cause it might go against the directions but mines specific and i think it shows that you’re more dedicated to the school. Its up to you to decide what to do

@uscindian
Do you have 500-650 words of USC specific material? With the USC supplement I found it hard to even write 200 words of USC specific information. That is to say, content that couldn’t apply to any other university.

My opinion is the common app main should be broad or generic. It should be specifically about yourself and what you have learned or what you hope to achieve. I disagree with coolkid094, schools don’t care about how big of a fan you are. They want to admit students who they believe bring something of value. In other words you should sell yourself with the common app main.

I agree with @bomerr make your essay personal, about you, your accomplishments, what you hope to achieve, etc… The school already knows it’s the ■■■■. It doesn’t need any clarification.

@coolkid94

Please enlighten us on what they want to hear. I’m pretty sure everyone on here would love that vital information.

Like i said, there is a debate and i believe what i believe. I respect other peoples opinions as well.

@stanx89

My personal essay is still personal and i talk about me and the school. instead of putting general reasons why i should transfer to another school, i made it usc specific. You wouldn’t understand unless you read it.

@usc2usc

Im appying to UT too. I was too late to apply to any UC’s cause i missed the deadline but im pretty confident on USC. Hopefully, everything goes my way.

I’m not saying I’m correct, but I have a very veteran college counselor from my counselor, and they recommend against just talking about family or your live or community service, because everyones done it and there generally the same type of story instead they wanna know who you are and why that’s good for USC. It’s a blend of the two, because they do want to know that you want to go there, and that you believe you’re part of what they represent.

Theres no formula to a good essay, a lot of it is luck on who reads it and the type of day there having. No reason to fight over it though, nor be rude. We’re all here for the same reason trying to get to the same place.

Hey guys I have been following this thread and the previous years USC transfer thread ever since i stepped foot in community college. From what I have gathered is that there is no perfect formula as ^ USC2USC has stated above. I hardly ever do talk on this thread but believe me I do read it all as it somehow makes me feel closer to USC.

Bottom line is as much as we are all nervous/excited about getting in, sweating over the small stuff and comparing stats will just drive you insane. At this point there isnt much you can do to really change your chances besides just focusing on finishing the year academically as strong as possible at your current institution.

As a prospective USC MARSHALL applicant all i can say is good luck to you all and FIGHT ON!

and remember…people want to see you do great but never better than themselves.

but im so skeptical on if i should base my essay on USC or not, ive read countless stories on people who successfully have done so but i feel that the admissions office will see it as a blatant disregard of directions. I understand why @Coolkid094 is writing as he is a legacy but is anyone who is not a legacy doing the same?

^ They won’t straight up deny you because a lot of people make mistakes when writing their essays. It’s just that if you know what you are doing you can seriously improve your chances.

Common app main : talk about yourself
USC supplemental : talk about USC
