Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

@andy1l17 Maybe I am being ridiculous but there isn’t something called ‘current year courses’ under ‘Education’ in my common app. There are only “College”,“Secondary Schools”,“CBO”,“Education Interruption” and “Colleges&Universities” under this section

I have another question, under “Testing” section in common app, if I let examination board to send my SAT/TOFEL scores should I check the option “self-report scores”?

Guys I found out a serious problem. I believe that there are missing entries under my “Education” section. Do you have things like “Futrue Plan” “Class rank/GPA” under that section too? I created another common app account and there is “Current Year Courses”. This is so strange. Should I start over using the new account?

@fayano Sure, the link is usconnect.usc.edu. But like hepburn95 said, it depends on when you submit your App. They email you info within a few days after you submit, letting you know how you can log in, and from there you can check what they have and don’t have.

@Clordia Is it possible that you marked that you are a “freshman” and not a “transfer”? I’m not sure but those things sound like questions they would ask someone still in high school. Also, what are your options in the testing box? “Self-reported scores” and “Not self-reported scores” ?

@Trojfan131 When did you submit your application?

@hepburn95 I am pretty sure i registered as a transfer and it appears so at right top corner of my common app. I think I have to start over:(

@Clordia I’m so sorry! Thankfully you didn’t discover this issue at 11PM on Saturday!

Thanks @trojfan131!

I had one other question for anyone that may know.

I was reading on the USC “transfer credit & policy” page that online courses will be determined on a case-by-case basis and it also mention something about providing a syllabi. Does this mean that I must provide a syllabi for the one online class that I have taken in order for the credits to be accepted? If so, do I personally mail that syllabi to the admissions office or do I have the instructor mail it? Does anyone know about them not accepting online course work?

@clordia
Thanks for alerting me of this problem! I ended up asking the people at common app about it and one of their technical support guys refreshed the page for me so now it has current year courses.

https://appsupport.commonapp.org/ics/support/TSFolder.asp

@hepburn95 I submitted my App one or two days before Christmas. My goal was to send out my App, my High School Transcripts, and my CC Transcripts at the same time, but unfortunately it didn’t go as planned, as my CC Transcripts (which my CC directly sent out to USC) are at an unknown location. I’m just hoping they make it there, I would hate to be have a setback because of this…

@swerveness
When did you ask and how long did they take to respond you? I used the same portal to file this problem but nothing get back to me yet:( I really need get his done by application deadline:(

Also can somebody kindly clarify for me the exact deadline? Is it due on 11:59PM on Friday or Saturday?

@swerveness @hepburn95
Problem fixed! Thanks!

do we have to specify whether or not we are applying as a sophomore or junior? or would they automatically consider this depending on our units?

sorry freaking out like crazy, good luck to everybody btw.

@uscindian I believe that they just determine your standing based on the number of transferrable credits you complete prior to the semester you would be enrolling.

Good luck to you as well.

@Clordia 11:59 PST on Saturday February 1

@Trojfan131 I’m sorry to hear that! I know how frustrating it can be when you rely on someone/something else to pull through for you! But I know USC wouldn’t count that against you. They WANT all of the documents in by the 1st, but it’s not totally necessary. Maybe send them again? My school let me send them online and USC accepted it electronically (immediately), so if that is an option for you, I would take it!

@uscindian I agree with Trojfan131, they will determine your standing based off of your transferable credits.

@hepburn95 You know, it’s funny. Right after I posted that message, having only checked usconnect this morning, I thought “What the heck? I’ll check again.” So I checked, and they said that they finally have it in their received documents list lol. That is a HUGE load off my chest, as I have taken multiple trips to the office in my CC for verifications of it being sent, and multiple panic attacks along the way.

… And now we wait hahaha.

@Trojfan131 I’m glad to hear it! But, really, the wait is going to be much much worse! :((

Question:

Do we have to send in our transcripts by Feb 1st?

I am thinking about waiting a bit in order to send in my winter 2014 grades as well?

@TonyStark93 They don’t NEED to be there by the 1st, they would just LIKE them there by then. I would call admissions and ask them if you can send what you have now, and another transcript when your winter grades come out. Just so they have some form of the supplement until then!
