Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

@uscindian yeah that happened to my teacher too, so i just mailed in a physical copy of the letter to admissions

Guys, I just called USC’s admissions office. The representative told me that the app is due today at 11:59 pm. I honestly don’t want to take the risk, so I’m finishing it today.

@Clordia - To answer your question, I will be transferring from a 4-year institution. I did study at a CC for Fall 2012 and Spring 2013. I started studying at a 4 year institution this semester (Spring 2014) as I took last semester off. Btw, thank you for that link!

@saltedcashews based on usc’s admission website, the application deadline is Feb 1st 11:59pm in your own time zone

http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/apply/dates_deadlines.html</a></p>

I really hope you’re right lyxhkx. I wonder why didn’t that lady just say “I don’t know” instead of giving me the wrong answer…

@hopefultrojan9 I didn’t, but I don’t think it’s a bad idea.

@uscindian Everyone I have talked to had the same issue, send a physical copy.

@TonyStark93 Borderline meaning your GPA is there but you don’t have good ECs or vice versa. Or one admissions officers wants you in, one disagrees. There are a lot of different possibilities, but something along those lines. Also, I believe the average transfer GPA for Dornsife is 3.4-3.6. I will do some more research and let you know, but that’s what I have been hearing!

@esai23 A lot of the people working the phones in there are students, so they aren’t always the greatest source of information. Rather be safe than sorry though!

@hepburn Thank you for your reply. Yes, it is indeed better to be safe than sorry! I guess I’ll be submitting my app today.

I know they dont like abbreviations but how did you guys refer to USC? did you put USC or University of Southern California. i hate the word limit

@uscindian - I put University of Southern California once and then began referring to it as USC.

I sent one set of my transcripts via USPS almost 2 weeks ago, and it still says that they don’t have it. I know it takes them a while to process things that don’t reach them electronically, but does that seem like a long time to anyone else? Should I call them to make sure they got there?

@hepburn95 Well, hopefully this will comfort you. I sent my transcripts over Winter Break (were mailed out Jan 2nd). USC did not process those transcripts until two days ago. So unfortunately, it does take an uncomfortable amount of time for them to process mailed documents. But it should be fine in the end.

@Trojfan13 Thank you! I feel a bit better now. I wish they would be quicker about that stuff, it’s so scary! I wish they would be quicker about making decisions too! :stuck_out_tongue:

@hepburn95 - You’re not alone my friend. I sent my transcripts two weeks ago too.

how do we insert paragraph tabs on the common app? so far i just made an additional space between paragraphs to indicate a new paragraph

@uscindian - I’ve been making additional spaces to indicate new paragraphs as well.

EDIT: It looks like even making spaces doesn’t help. I just checked my essays and the spaces I put are gone.

@esai23 any solutions or tips?

@uscindian -

I am just about to submit my application. When you hit the preview button, there is automatically a space after every paragraph.

So even though you won’t be able to see any new lines when you edit in the text box, don’t worry about it.

@uscindian Common App warns you that they may not be able to accommodate certain things like that when you transfer your text, so USC must know that is a common issue. It won’t count against you at all.

When I spoke with the admissions rep two weeks ago, I vaguely remember her saying that I would need an ID to access my account.

EDIT: I learnt how to get the pin for the ID. I won’t be able to get it for a few days because I just turned in my common app. Is there anything else I need to know?

Hi guys, do you know when the css profile is due for USC? thanks!
