All requirements complete

@hepburn95 - Holy fudgecakes, you’re definitely getting in. I’d be surprised if you didn’t.

@esai23 Wow, thank you so much for saying that! Even if you’re wrong, it puts me at ease! Fingers crossed, but you never know, my GPA could be a lot better. I would be shocked if you didn’t get in too! Your stats are fantastic, good luck!!

I’m having trouble calculating what GPA USC would see.

Since I attended 5 different colleges I have no idea how they would calculate my GPA.

Is it just gonna be everything combined?

I went to 4 different CC’s and 1 CSU…

Can anyone help me with this? I’m lost.

@TonyStark93 This website is really helpful:

<a href=“College GPA Calculator”>http://gpacalculator.net/college-gpa-calculator/

Just wanted to make sure - Once we transfer to USC, our GPA “restarts”, right?

@esai23 Yeah lets keep it active!

Also transferring to Marshall, hope we all get in.
By the way, what did you choose for your second choice major?

Stats
Transferring: Marshall, pre-accounting, will probably go into Lloyd Greif Entrepreneurship as well
Junior Transfer
GPA: 4.0
Currently taking 14 credit/semester hours
Essays: Glorious
3 great rec. letters
Extra-curricular: Loads, PTK, Volunteering, Starting an organization u name it
All requirements and GE’s complete

@fdominguez I’d say you’re in! Best of luck!

@esai23 Most schools carry your GPA over, but I think USC is different… I will call admissions this week and ask!

@fdominguez - I went with undecided for my second choice. If I don’t get into Marshall, but get Undecided, will I be able to enter Marshall for the spring of 2015?

By the way, awesome stats and good luck!

@hepburn95 - Thanks bro!

@esai23 I think what it is, is that you are correct in that you start with a 0.0 GPA when you start at USC. However, when it comes to graduation GPA (overall college GPA), the GPA of your previous institution/institutions will be mixed in as well. This is just done to have your GPA average over the four years, as well as any Masters programs you may be applying to. Confirmation on this would be needed, as I do not remember exactly where I read this.

@Trojfan131 That sounds accurate.

@hepburn95 I sure hope so, nothing is guaranteed though.

@esau23 Thanks!

I did exactly the same thing, and for the same reason. However, I think if USC accepts you they will pretty much admit you into Marshall given you completed all their requirements, which you have.

Is USC everyone’s #1 choice?

I calculated my overall GPA with every single class I took in my life and it came out to 3.2…

My UC counselor told me my GPA was a 3.5

For example at CSU Chico I took a English 101 class that would not transfer over to my local CC so I had to take English 1 at my CC

Would USC factor both classes into the GPA?

It’s so frustrating because I have no idea how USC would calculate my GPA…

I feel like I’m gonna get rejected =

@hepburn95

nope, too expensive, 2nd choice for me

@TonyStark93
They will factor in transferable courses ONLY and average together repeats.

@bomerr

So they will only take certain courses? What’s the likelyhood of my CSU courses transferring?

And how will I know which ones transfer over?

And so if I got an F in for example Calculus 1 and retook it and got an A it’d be an average of a “C”?

@TonyStark93

English 101 sounds like a transferable course.

Generally speaking courses such as remedial math or english (marked sub 100 at my CC) and vocational courses such as allied health, real estate, cisco and some business/accounting courses don’t transfer.

@bomerr

So I took Accounting 1 and 2 and you’re telling me those classes won’t be counted in my GPA?

I took Humanities and some other stuff in CSU would those transfer over too?

Accounting 1 and 2 should transfer but other accounting classes such as information systems don’t transfer. Humanities will prob transfer.

<a href=“USC-Articulation Agreement”>Error;

Where else are people applying? And what are your preferences?

I just got into University of Pittsburgh and got a fee waiver for PSU(instate) and Umaine(oos) so applying there too

Other schools:
GWU
LMU
NYU
Johns Hopkins
Emory
Cornell

USC, GWU, and Cornell are tied for my #1 but because of high EFC I feel like I’ll be forced to end up at Pitt or PSU due to financial reasons.
