Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

I just read online that no transfer applicants are interviewed?

http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/apply/adm_interview.html

I took my transcript today and opened the envelope to check what’s inside and they said its unofficial if the envelope is opened I have to request another transcript

Maaan : /

@hepburn95 Not for the USC in general, but I have to have one for the School of Dramatic Arts. They used to be optional for transfers, but now they’re mandatory as part of the supplement.
I’m not sure what other majors might require an interview though.

@xsayax Is it possible to just request one if you want one? Or is it only if it’s mandatory for your major?

@hepburn95 I don’t think you can, otherwise it would probably be optional.

@hepburn95 - Weird : / I live down the street from USC, submitted by transcripts the first week of January (same for LOR) and they STILL haven’t been checked off as processed on USConnect

@SoCalLife310 Strange! I’m sure it’s different for everyone. They could also be processing things in groups by major/school. What school are you applying to?

@hepburn95 - Ahhh good point. They might be doing it by group or major…didn’t think of that. Either way, I think I will give it a week and if not processed yet, Im going to call and probably re-order my transcripts…etc -_-. And I am applying to Marshall for Bus. Admin and to Dornsife as a PPL major. I actually wouldnt mind doing either one…although with my stats I think I only have a fighting chance in Dornsife.

@SoCalLife310 I agree with your idea to wait another week, especially since they extended the deadline so much. What are your stats like?

Strange, I just checked my USConnect and it says they received my common app but not my USC supplement, but my common app has shown both green check for both items

Does anyone’s USConnect say that specific documents are missing? Like in the required documents section? Mine has nothing there, and it looks like they have received everything, but the message still says that they “need additional information.” Does this just mean that they are still gathering applications, or is it specific to me? Thanks!

It is common for USC to take a few days processing everything you submitted. I had to apply by December 1st as I am a Music Industry Major, and it didn’t show that they received my transcripts for about two weeks.

Hello everyone,

I understand that transfer students will hear back by June 1st if they were accepted. (Most of these students had to submit their application by February 1st, or now February 18th it sounds like.) I applied as a Music Industry major, so my deadline was December 1st. I had to include three video interviews, several pieces of my portfolio, and my music industry resume. Since my application was due two months before most transfers, will I likely hear back about two months early or more closer to June 1st like everyone else?

Anybody applied as a Music Industry major to USC and knows?

Thanks,
Josh

@joshpick So by June 3rd we will have all been accepted, denied, or asked for a SGR (they start sending out decisions beginning in April.) The way that I have seen it go over the past few years is that Dornsife (being the least competitive school) applicants typically get acceptances or rejections first. More competitive schools like Marshall and Annenberg typically hear a bit later on. Most of the SGR’s hear around the same time, regardless of school. So, unfortunately, even though you turned in your application earlier, it is likely that you will be in a group of people that will receive their decision more toward the end of the cycle.

fo the USC GE requirement, is it ok to have one missing? i tried to get the class but wasn’t able to :/

@saltedcashews They want you to have all of them, but it is not necessary for admission

Did you guys get an email from USC about USConnect or did you sign up yourself?

EDIT: Nevermind.

Since we assigned recommenders on common app, will it not show up that they received letters of recommendation on the USC Connect portal? Basically I am asking if the letters of recommendation are part of the common app or are they separate, because it does not say that they received LOR’s on my usc connect portal.

@fayano Mine shows separately on USConnect. But I sent them in the mail, I’m not sure if it is the same for people who do the online form.

The extension of the deadline in my opinion, is bad for everyone.

If they want to accept a # amount of students, and there was not enough applicants. In order to keep the percentage of acceptance low, they would accept less. So in proportion, if more 4.0’s applied and the others with lower GPA’s where scared by either a fee or rejection, that would mean less people have chance to get in. Unless you are at the top.

But the margins for lower GPA’s accepted get thinner as less people apply, therefore I believe USC is doing everyone a favor. Its either that, or everyone better have average GPA’s. Then we all get in.

Anyways, I am just waiting for my HS transcript to get there and I am good.

Oh by the way did anyone have a leap year like I did?

In USC connect it states that I had an interuption in my education:

"-- an explanation of what you were doing when you were not attending school. Your educational history indicates time periods when you were not enrolled in classes."

But I did not explain or justify my leap year anywhere, is this something to be worried about? Besides that all my stats are spectacular.
