Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

@TonyStark93‌ You will not be able to find that information anywhere. The average GPA of acceptance is a 3.7 and USC basis this for every major, it doesn’t matter what major you are going in for. The average GPA for ALL of them are 3.7.

The only thing other than GPA that counts is what you have completed.

Does anybody know when Viterbi applicants find out if they got accepted or not? UC’s are all done by April 30th and MIT is by May 15th, and I am not sure if I want to apply to USC and wait until the first week of June. 8-|

@RAHforHEE‌ They calculate your GPA with only transferrable classes. So classes that are perquisites and non transferrable are not calculated. They also do not do academic forgiveness so any failing grade will be calculated as well.

@rosyme‌

So, basically only look at the core and the major requirements for graduation?

@‌RAHforHEE

core, prereq and anything else that transfers

@bomerr‌

Wow, thank you!

Hey guys!
I’m a current freshman at a private Univeristy and I wanted to know is it easy to get into te Global Studies department at USC!
Also, I have a 3.8 now and will have 36 units by the end of Spring semester and plan on taking the rest of USC’s General requirements during the summer, is that good enough?

Will you be penalized if you have more than 64 units? (65-69ish)

@ahahanjun I don’t think so, they just won’t chose to accept those units.

@NCXfer‌

If you have more than 64, how might they calculate?

@Rahforhee I think they would choose the ones that transfer first, then choose ones that satisfy their requirements, and slowly filter it out like that. That’s just my guess though.

@NCXfer‌

Okay, sounds good. I don’t have over 64, I have 62 but I will be taking more courses that transfer over next semester–these classes will satisfy the core requirements. When they say up to 64 units, do they mean in terms of calculating GPA AND that you would have to take the course over again at USC or is it just the whole GPA thing?

@rahforhee just taking a guess here but I would assume its in terms of GPA + you would have to take the course again, but, y’know, I’m just guessing.

Hello everyone!

I’m planning on applying to USC as a sophomore transfer and was wondering what my current standing reflects upon my chances of getting in as well as what I could do to improve my chances. I am currently an out of state student from UNC and would like to apply for USC’s Marshall Business School.

Would USC review my spring semester grades too? If I work hard enough, I believe I can attain around a 3.7 GPA by the end of my freshman year. I would really like USC to see that as a means of a growth trend.

Thanks for any help!

@‌sf7345

If you are full pay and you completed the marshall pre-reqs of calculus and english then I believe you have a shot even with a 3.45.

Hi everyone!

I’m currently a freshman at a four-year university, but I’m applying to transfer to SC next fall! I’m a part of the Trojan Transfer plan (I’m a legacy) and I was wondering if the transfer plan really helps in being admitted? Of course admission is not guaranteed, but how much does it help? I’m wanting to apply to Dornslife under a human biology major. My grades aren’t released yet, but I anticipate getting a 3.1 GPA. I know to be a competitive student, I should have a 3.6 GPA, but does USC favor upward trends? Will my winter and spring quarters be reviewed as well?

Thanks for any help!

Do you guys know if for the supplement essays , your suppose to mention both majors or just your first choice?? Cause my first and second choice majors are completely different.

@jucery13 just focus on writing the best essay possible. That will matter more than listing your major(s).

@bomerr Well yeah, but i was just wondering, because on the supplemental essay it ask “How are you gonna pursue your academic interest at USC, and this way I can focus on the opportunities there is for that certain field of study”. I guess ill just mention my first choice.

@jucery13 Go with whichever major will make a better sounding essay.
