Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

@NCXfer‌ A secondary school final report is not required. I am not too sure about the college report but I want to say it is required as well.

Does anyone know if letters of recommendation should be sent electronically through the common app? I’m thinking it’s under the “teacher evaluation” part of the application, so I would just need to invite the person who is recommending me?

Thanks.

Here is some good info for viterbi applicants… but it may apply to other schools:

Hi!
I’m applying to USC and am currently a second semester freshman
I had around a 3.67 unweighted GPA and only about a 3.8-3.9 weighted in high school with a few ECs, 2260 SAT score, and 5 APs
My first semester freshman year I took bio, chem, global health, and a statistics/comp sci class and got a 4.0 GPA at UC Merced
I’m currently involved in research and am in a professional fraternity (pre-med)
I hoping to get into the keck school of medicine
Do you guys think I have a chance?

Thanks

UC Merced?? What is that.

@numbersz Thanks for the link, I wonder what Viterbi’s acceptance rate is for transfer students compared to other colleges at USC?

@HappyLifeMachine‌ I was watching a YouTube video on Viterbi transfer information and they said they try to keep the average GPA at around 3.7, and that goes for all the other majors, so no matter what program you apply to, the average GPA will be a 3.7.

How many words are you guys using on the ones with a 250 word maximum? I’m at like half that.

Can I electronically submit my transcripts now even though I’ll probably submit the application closer to the deadline?

EDIT: Do I really need to send in high school transcripts even though I will be entering as a junior? I find that strange

@Numbersz‌ for the first one, I did about 236 words, and the second, about 167.

@UCPhysics‌ admissions want proof that you graduated high school, that’s all. So yes, everyone needs to send it

Does anyone know if ap English satisfies the writing requirement?

@bossamerica http://www.usc.edu/dept/ARR/articulation/apexams.html no AP English does not satisfy the writing requirement.

USC is very interesting in that they want 2nd semester writing.

Does USC have a pre law major?

Anyone have info on it also

Hi guys,

Do we need to send in a mid term report? Because if we do need to send one in, I don’t know how I can since I’m not taking any classes right now and can’t get any professor’s signatures. Do I wait for spring semester to start and send in the report late? Or should i email my teachers and ask them to fill out the form and fax it to me?

Thanks!

I earned about a 3.2 at a 4 year university for 2 years, then took some time off of school and took some CC credits and earned a 4.0, creating an overall GPA of 3.3. Some circumstances happened during a few semesters, which is why it was lowered down to a 3.2. Anyways, how should I strengthen my application if my gpa isn’t as high as competitive?

Hi everyone I am currently a student at cc. I have a 4.0 GPA and have finished all my general ed classes I can at cc. I I have the trojan transfer plan ( my brother goes to USC). I have done two internships where I worked at small businesses helping with social media. Have volunteered at a hospital and done science research at a stress lab in UCLA. My high school grades where okay but not wow. I currently want to apply as a communication major and was wondering what my chances are. Someone please help me!

Guys I have 2 quick questions:

  1. For the recommenders, do you have to wait until they submit a recommendation? Or can you submit your application and does it automatically get updated when they send it in?
  2. What if transcripts don't make it BY February 1st? Is it okay?

@TonyStark93 I don’t know the answer to your first question, but I know that as long as transcripts are postmarked before feb 1st you should be fine.
