Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

@Msmclagirl just my luck right, haha and I agree, I emailed him a couple months ago and his response was kind of rude but I didn’t think much of it. But I guess he is one of the mean ones.

@zettasyntax You seem to be on top of things and helped answer a lot of ppl’s questions on here - surprised that your new counselor noticed a document missing sounds like he’s on top of it - haven’t had the guts or any questions to email/call my admissions counselor - the guy you had last year sounded sketchy glad you’ve got a better one now reviewing your file - great sign good luck!

@ForeverGymnast21 My counselor this time is Clay Busia. He seems pretty young! Like 23-26 I’d say. His email was fairly nice, so I’m hoping he’s easy to communicate with and keeps me updated.

@madlion21 Thanks, I remember lurking the transfer thread last year and speaking with a few people then, so I’m just trying my best to remember what they said and see if I can help out :stuck_out_tongue: I thought my counselor last year was good at sending me emails, but he never followed up, so that wasn’t good :-S

@zettasyntax Clay Busia is very nice. I’m always emailing him annoying questions and he replies very fast and is always nice as well.

@zettasyntax Also do you know what order the counselors go in? What i mean is a lot of people who applied to Dornsife Human Bio have already heard back (well the ones who posted on here) so is there a particular order they go by? Major? School? or order in which they received the application?

Your assigned admission counselor has nothing to do with the review process of your application. They simply serve as a conduit between the reviewing parties and the prospective student.

@kozarts so who reviews the applications then?

@kozarts is it a committee that reviews it?

Accepted!!

Applied to Marshall (Business Admin)

More details on decision thread

Decision updated on you.usc.edu on 05/02/15

I have not received the golden packet yet. My financial aid is still under review. After logging in to you.usc, the first link on left changed to Admission Decision.

I never had access to Oasis and still don’t have access.
I am declining the USC offer as I SIR’ed to Haas.
Good luck to all Marshall applicants.

I was certain that they went by school based on last year as Viterbi people mentioned results last, but it could have been that we just didn’t have many of those applicants using the forum. I’m certain I saw someone mention a Viterbi decision of sorts on the forum already, so that really throws the by school trend I noticed last year.

I recall Rahforhee saying that two admissions counselors look at your application and they both decide. Then a committee if they don’t agree. I’d take their word since they were among the first to mention an acceptance

@zettasyntax your own admissions counselors or different ones?

As far as Viterbi decisions, I’ve seen a chemical or bio engineer report that she has not received anything. I am an electrical engineering major and sent in my application as early as November 30th, and I have received SGR. I haven’t seen that many engineers report much of anything. Maybe the ones that were accepted already didn’t even bother with this forum. who knows, I want to get my hopes up but at the same time, I don’t want to be really disappointed.

I believe he said your own counselor and another one not assigned to you. We should tag rah and ask :stuck_out_tongue: I’m pretty sure I paraphrased his post decently though. I recall in last year’s thread your own admissions counselor has to argue that you’re worthy to the committee, so they may play a pretty big role? I don’t know where that poster got their info though.

@invalid99

Applied to Viterbi for CS here. No decision yet or SGR. I think its safe to say that the people on this forum are the type that tend to care the most- which could mean that either they just have an obsession with USC, or that they really advocate for themselves and their education and thus I would tend to say are smarter than the average applicant.

This was the response @RAHforHEE gave me back on 4/20 - “I actually spoke to them in person and they told me two people read it and then a committee. The first to read it is the admissions counselor in your area. I was shocked about my admissions decision because they told me they weren’t even looking at applications.”

Thanks @HumbleTeen for your great news and stats (also posting them on the 2015 Acceptance Thread  Good luck at Haas will miss you joining the Trojan Family…

Hey I got a question for those of you that applied for Financial Aid.

When you go to youSC and click Check Financial Aid Status, does the 3rd tab on the bottom say “Application in Review” with a Yellow Clock???

I turned in every requested document and it’s been saying that for a while now.

Does anyone else have the same thing???

@LostAndAnnoyed I hope you are right. I think CS tends to separated from the rest of Engineering, so don’t worry about not getting a SGR or any replies back from USC yet. I wish you the best of luck during this selection process (hate to call it a selection process, but that’s what it is) :))

@TonyStark93 That’s going to stay there until you get accepted. I remember checking the financial aid status for 2014-2015 as I was getting ready to apply again in January and it still had the yellow pending clock. So I’d assume that you only get the final details upon acceptance.
