*******OFFICIAL USC Class of 2019 Results/Discussion Thread**********

Are you sure? Because some people have already gotten it @dragonflymusic‌

What day are decisions released for regular decision? I know it says April 1st but a lot of schools say April 1st but typically release earlier.

Last year people received decisions on March 28th so I believe this year it’ll be March 27th (I’m guessing because last friday in march)

Portal also changed! Deans scholar!

@Homie253‌

These people have been accepted early and so are receiving the Dean’s scholarship. From past experience, usually the only people who receive Dean’s are those who were accepted at the same time as the finalists of the big 4 scholarships. Since all notifications for this early admission cycle should be out, the chances of receiving a Dean’s scholarship now are very low if you have not been accepted yet.

So I’d get absolutely nothing basically:/

@Homie253‌ The thing is, most people don’t get anything (in terms of merit scholarships). It’s not just you :confused:

I understand. I basically can’t go to my dream school anymore because I’m not trying to pay 65k a year if they take me…

Remember we still have regular decision to look forward to! Not losing hope! :slight_smile:

@Homie253‌ If you can’t pay it, what about financial aid? And outside scholarships? Don’t lose hopeee

I do not have a horse in the race this year, and this is in no way bitter, but just commentary…but I can tell you, this mess happens every year, I do not know why they do it this way. By not sending out scholarship and no scholarship letters at the same time, many students are stressed beyond belief for days. It should all be done at once. Also, I do not know any other school that does this big public display of the haves and have not’s. It’s like rubbing first class and coach in their faces. Sure everyone knows it is there, but knowing you are in coach doesn’t make you feel great. It leaves kids with a sour taste of USC. Yes it’s reality, it’s competitive - all that stuff, I totally get that. But the way they do this, those that don’t get it feel pretty demoralized as evident on this thread. My S got a trustee equivalent at another big name school (ranked higher than USC btw), it came in the mail when everyone got decisions EA, no one knows they got it because there wasn’t all this fanfare, and others don’t have to feel crappy about not getting it. Too much confusion for these stressed out kids overall. Just my opinion.

@crhomberg21‌ congrats! did your portal just change?? what school did you apply to?

@awesomekid I don’t qualify for financial aid lol, and outside scholarships are hard to come by when you don’t qualify for some sort of financial need. Numerous people, including my counselor, believed that as an URM with high scores, a good essay, diverse activities, and NAF status, the school would offer me something, and I’ve received nothing, not even Dean’s. This has taught me to never get my hopes up

@Homie253‌ Remember USC picks scholarship recipients holistically and that only 3% of the applicants get the BIG scholarships

Deans scholarship!

92 GPA
2240 SAT

Then why do they do the Dec 1st deadline for WBB?

Now, I’m not even upset about the scholarship. I just don’t understand what Usc is looking for. Does no $$$ at USC mean no top schools for me?

@emmysss‌ Same here.

@couplemoreweeks‌ — Depends on what you mean by a “top schools.” My first son didn’t get any of the major USC scholarships and he got into Northwestern, which was the highest ranked to which he applied. I think kids are overreacting to the USC scholarship thing. Most top schools don’t even offer merit based scholarships. Relax.

@couplemoreweeks‌

Remember that the acceptance rate for USC scholarship admissions (4%) is lower than even Stanford and Ivy League admission rates. At a certain point, luck comes into play even if you have the stats or extracurriculars. Not getting a scholarship certainly doesn’t mean that you’ll be rejected from top schools-- after all, a rejection from one Ivy does not mean rejection from the rest. Keep you chin up and remember that this is only one school! Good luck with the rest of the admissions process!
