*******OFFICIAL USC Class of 2019 Results/Discussion Thread**********

@uclabound1‌ , If you really want to go to USC, what is up with that screen name? Thems fightin’ words around here.

@DcMoon34‌ it just changed last night. There was a pdf of a letter dated jan 27th. I applied to Marshall, 33 ACT 3.88 GPA.

@Homie253‌ You sound like felt you had a high probability of getting these scholarships. You were mistaken, ignored any information given to you that pointed otherwise, and probably only listened to information that reinforced what you wanted to hear. Hopefully you have backups (financial and otherwise), for which you will eventually be happy with.

See my response to you way back.

USC is very generous with AP credit. For those of you looking for a way to make USC affordable it is worth researching to see how much AP credit you will get. My son will graduate in 3 years from Marshall with his degree, a minor and a Certificate because he was able to get the maximum credit for his AP classes. He has had to take 18 units each semester but is shaving 1 year off of college which is obviously a substantial savings to us.

Viterbi is not as generous. My son got lots of credits, but they did not knock off many required classes. So the credits were not very usefull, as I think they only reduced 3 classes which is less than a semester.

@rgosula‌ My Viterbi son is in the same boat. He’s skipping two math and GE 4 due to AP credits. However they no longer require the foreign language course. Four other APs count as electives but it doesn’t shave off time since he has so many required courses.

Most of my Marshall credits are for electives as well-- I brought in the maximum 32 credits and knocked out 2 GE’s and one math class for Marshall.

Hey guys, I just wanted to give some hope to everyone here! I just found out I got accepted (my first acceptance!!!) to USC for the Presidential Scholarship, with an SAT of only 2030 and a GPA of 3.9. I’m an international, and everyone told me it wasn’t worth it (only 3% get a scholarships, you need at least 2250+ SAT) but it feels great to prove the doubters, especially the geniuses on this site, wrong!   If anyone wants more info they can PM me!!!

Major: Accounting (Marshall Business School)

I’m in disbelief right now…Fight on!

@IVCUSA11‌ congrats!! When/how did you find out and what were your ECs???

@DcMoon34‌ I just checked my portal now and my admissions decision was there, attached with a downloadable pdf! I had okay EC’s I guess, including my work managing a rubber-tree plantation business, Soccer Captain, Future Business Leaders founder (in my school) and I played soccer for the best team in my country, but nothing like USAMO or anything huge like that lol.

Not sure if anyone has said this already but if you got the scholarship invite the portal should be updated! So if you know the mail is going to take forever/haven’t checked/whatever other reason you can confirm and check if you got in if your portal is changed. You can see which scholarship too cause you can view your letter!
@rappnic

This is the first time I am sharing something on CC -because I recently signed up. I am an international student and I know that it is harder for international students to become finalists for these kinds of scholarships. However I am accepted to USC for the Trustee Scholarship.

Although my SAT is 2110 and GPA is 4.0, I think I am qualified for this scholarship because of my involvement in community projects. I truly believe that once you find your passion -mine is environment sustainability- and be able to sincerely show it in your essays, many colleges will appreciate your effort. Therefore, don’t be disappointed if you are still waiting your offers!

@lilyo1‌ Congratulations! I hope you get the scholarship!

@stahboy thank you!! I wish the very best for you as well:)

I haven’t been too active on CC as of recently, but those people who’ve been around longer might remember from last year’s application cycle. I applied to SCA for the Fall 2014 term and was rejected, but I didn’t give up on USC and this year I applied again. Surprise, I’m a finalist for the Trustee Scholarship! So don’t give up, everyone! By the way, I’m also an international with a 2150 SAT.

@LayraSparks USC does not offer trustee scholarships to transfer students unless you are implying that you applied, got rejected, and are now applying again after skipping school for a year.

@LayraSparks - Congratulations! That is just awesome and best wishes on landing that Trustee Scholarship! and good luck and congrats to all the scholarship finalists posting here as well.

@LegacyMom‌ lol UCLA has been my dream school for so long, but I have to say that USC really has sparked my interest. Better campus, a lot more financial aid, and more in line with my major.

Got the email 2 days ago telling us that my son did not make the merit scholarship list of 1200 kids that did…but stay hopeful cause he could still be one of additional 8,000 students they are going to offer acceptances to! That is such a big number!

anyone still in limbo or just me haha
