Congrats ZBR!!!!

ZBR you have given me a reason to believe...god bless you brother

yea... im really really really reliant on my essays and letter of recs. my scores are so not there. good thing i am confident in the essays and letters.

I just got my waitlist letter for Writing for Screen and Television. Does anybody know what this means? Has anybody had experience with this? I can't tell if it is a good or bad thing. Any reccomednations for what actions to take at this point? Thank you.

yo ZBR what school on LI do you attend? and were you asked for MDYs?

ZBR, i would still plan on attending USC, despite the waitlisting, on which the decision could go either way, you're in and thats whats important...allow a back up plan, but just rejoice you got in, you give hope to all of us who unlike the kids who post in here aren't presidential scholarship nominees, got MDY report requests, and have sub-2200 SAT scores...on a separate note, my school doesn't use a 4.0 GPA system for a variety of dumb and confusing reasons....unweighted my GPA is right in the A- range, i take all honors, college level, or AP level classes, with very few exceptions (and i get As in the exception) can any of you weighted 4.0s tell me what i have, because i have no clue

why I got accepted/rejected: perfect high school transcripts, varsity soccer (we had a really good team this year), tried to make a name for myself at school-- many people know me and like me, U.S. Senate Youth Program, RYLA, 1st place in chemistry at state science fair, truly worked my butt off in school

Last thoughts: For all you out there with lower SAT scores, keep your hopes high! Sometimes having superior qualities in everything other than test scores will get you into top colleges.

UPDATE:

Accepted into CNTV's Writing for Screen/TV Program (So basically, I have one up on Spielberg....)

my stats are floating around somewhere in case you care...

ZBR: hold on....i'm sure people will turn down the offer.... (if they get into tisch, maybe) so don't get down...i'd accept the waitlist offer. do you want to share portfolios? I'd love to see what you sent in...PM me, okay?

Ok, this is a relief. I just called the department to ask about the whole waitlist procedure, and the first thing they said was "Congratulations!" Apparently, everyone on the waitlist got in last year. They keep it short enough so this is possible.

So, there is still hope, and I am very excited.

I go to Jericho High School.

Those latest acceptance letters when did they were sent out? Friday?

My Best friend received hers Saturday so it must have been sent out Thursday or Friday.
The admissions office said that they were making there deadline, so the rest of us should know by Saturday, hopefully.

* Essays: Decent
* Teacher Recs: Two great ones (doctor and pastor), and one I didn't read from my Latin teacher... hopefully something good was said
* Counselor Rec: I hate her. I don't think she knows that though, so it was probably good.

Last thoughts: Well, as you can see, my test scores weren't amazing and I didn't do anything phenomenal outside of school, so.... have faith! Good luck to everyone who's still waiting to hear and Congrats to those who got in already!

why I got accepted/rejected: My test scores aren't great, but I make up for that in dedication to school stuff. I've really improved the quality of several school organizations. I have an extensive theatre resume, and I have an internship at a professional community theatre. I think my teacher rec. did something, too.

Last thoughts: Good luck, guys. I've realized that even if your test scores aren't phenomenal, as long as you're passionate and good at SOMETHING, you'll still succeed.

I feel as though a large portion of the non-liberal arts schools (engineering theatre, CNTV) have sent out their responses but, i see very few Letters, Arts and Sciences admits in here....has LAS not fully sent out their admits?

has anyone been accepted to Marshall?

pleaseUSC88, I got in to Letters, Arts, and Sciences as an undecided major. The only other person I know who got in is in the same position. The other people from my school who have applied, but not heard mostly applied to Viterbi, Marshall, etc. I'm pretty sure that all of the schools are not "fully" done sending out admits, not just LAS.
