OFFICIAL UT AUSTIN APPEAL THREAD/ WAIT-LISTED APPLICANT

@waitingforasign still under review

still under review. submitted appeal in March

appeal just got denied

^

so what does this mean if we havent heard back yet…is there a good chance of getting in for those who havent heard back?

Just letting you all know, if you got rejected and fell in the top 7% after your junior year, then you did not fall in the automatic admissions. You had to be in the top 7% by the end of your junior year. However; if you fell in the top 7% and you are completing 30 hours of work in the college you go to next year, then you are considered an automatic transfer applicant.

Has anyone been accepted with their appeal yet?

Still waiting… :expressionless:

@bkanaan actually, if you are in the top 7% by the December 1 application deadline, you have automatic admission. Our high school ranks after each 9-week grading period. My daughter missed the top 7% cutoff by 2 students at the end of junior year. However, she just made it into top 7% (she was the cutoff!) after the first 9 weeks of senior year. We submitted an updated transcript to UT and she was auto-admitted right away.

@FloMoMom that actually doesn’t make any sense. On their website, it says you have to be in the top 7% by the end of your junior year but your daughter is quite lucky. I hit the top 7% by December 1 and still got rejected. I even called them and said you had to be in the top 7% by the end of your junior year.

My understanding is that they don’t take into account anything (grades or rank) that are updated after Dec. 1. If your school re-ranks before Dec 1st then they would consider it, but if they don’t re-rank until after 1st semester grades (like FloMo Mom said after the 9 week grades) then you are out of luck. I don’t think many schools do this.

Hey there,

There hasn’t been recent activity on this thread but im hoping to get some advice on whether or not I should try to appeal. I am a female Hispanic transfer student. I applied to CNS environmental science program and received the decision that I did not get accepted on 6/10. When I submitted my transcript i had a GPA of 3.46 but after completing the last 2 courses required to transfer I managed to get it to a 3.5. I have leadership experience and am part of my community colleges phi theta kappa honors program. I support myself so if I’m not studying I’m working which doesn’t allow much time to volunteer but I do have some volunteer experience. Thanks for reading, looking forward to your feedback !

Hey did you decide to appeal? We should communicate. I’m a female going through the same process right now

@longhornmg @ltryhard13

Are you going to Appeal ? I have decided to do so. I know it’s tough to get an approval through this route . Wanted to know what you guys have found out . I know they want to hear new information that was not given previously .

I did. There’s been a change on my portal that was weird so I’m trying to figure that out also

Does anyone know how long it takes them to review appeals?

@kristinxamber I was told 10-14 days. Someone on the transfer thread got their appeal approved . They said it took about two week. I think it just depends on the volume of appeals they get. I submitted mine this past weekend.

Anyone hear something back yet ?

@peran15 I was told on the phone 10 days ago that I would hear back within 2 weeks, so I should know something by Friday hopefully.

did they repeal your admissions decision? did the appeal work?
