Thank you hook em.

Bump

rejected with an 1880 SAT, 4.6 weighted GPA, 4.4 unweighted GPA, lots and lots of extracurriculars.

Im appealing!!!

@highschoolhate. What college did you apply for and what is your class rank? UT does not consider GPA in their equation so those stats are not relevant for your case. When you say ECs, what leadership roles do you hold in those and for how long? Edited to ask instate or out of state.

president of freshman class, junior class treasurer, senior class representative, thespian society history/secretary, participated in about 8 musicals throughout high school, traveled abroad past 3 summers on community services type trips. Applied to college of Liberal Arts for international relations/global studies. Any tips on appealing?

@collegeshopping

@highschoolhate. In-state or out and class rank please. Have you received any major awards since your application or has there been a dramatic change in class rank?

I appealed already sent my letter to them. If you want to read it pm me so I can send it to you

I applied for cns but changed to undecided but the website didn’t change it so my decision was based off cns not undecided . It even said chemistry on there instead of undecided, and stated it would change after admissions had been made.

I believe I was waitlisted because my school doesn’t report class rank.
I would have thought UT Admissions was better than that (would understand about class rank, and merely give greater weight to other objective metrics). Apparently not. 1430 SAT (CR+M) with 3.9 UW, a great deal of college credit (from ACC no less), great essays (I’ve been actively writing satire since I was 10 years old, and I spent months on these essays), fantastic recommendations, etc etc… and I didn’t even make it into UT Undeclared.

My admissions counselor told me confusion is not grounds to appeal, and I’m taking her advice. I politely asked for her to check to see if my transcript and other items were indeed in my application folder, and she confirmed that they were. Now I’m moving on.

I guess my point is: don’t bother appealing unless you think there was some sort of material discrepancy (I.E. a transcript got lost) College Admissions are confusing, and sometimes you just get dealt a bad hand.

@135pipe
It seems you may have a legitimate reason to appeal.

@highschoolhate
You, not so much.

By virtue of the sheer number of applicants to UT, it is safe to assume that there are more qualified applicants than either you or I who also received a comfy spot on the waitlist. Don’t let your frustration get the better of you.

Thank you @etiquetteofwar
I am sorry you were hurt by the non rank. If their wasn’t the top 10 rule you would have a great shot at ut. Hopefully you get moved off

Waitlisted with PACE - In-state Applicant in top 11% for Electrical Engineering
2180 SAT Score with two subject scores sent to them
Thinking my major killed my chances there but still somewhat confused…
What is this appeal I’m hearing here?

So I changed my 2nd choice major from petroleum engineering to computer science (my 1st choice major was and has always been Chemical Engineering), but I don’t think that they processed the major change before they gave me my decision. Should I appeal and ask them to fix the major and re-evaluate me (if it isn’t too late at this point), or should I just stick with what I have? Do I risk giving up my PACE status if I do?

No you don’t @tehdude1 they will still offer you pace it’s just to see if you can get in

Here@doisko

@135pipe, thank you! Does anyone know a method to learn if our items such as transcript had been received by the institution?

Yes call them if you upload it they receive it together with your appeal it’s faster that way. You can fax it ( I faxed it today) or mail it (takes longer). Then call them if you fax it or mail it like 3 or 5 days to check up on it. That’s what the counselor said.

@collegeshopping school doesn’t rank! I’m in FL. Maybe I could have my guidance counselor write a letter of rec saying how our school doesn’t rank. Im already getting a letter from my headmaster and a former congressman who is also my uncle lol.

@highschoolhate did u get into uf. That’s my backup if ut doesn’t work out. Gators are as good as longhorns

@highschoolhate Did you originally send in a school profile?
