Official UVA 2017 RD Discussion Thread

accepted! i got an email from financial aid about missing documents at 5pm, so i wasn’t that worried haha.

Waitlisted OOS, I’m heartbroken. UVA has been one my absolute two favorite schools, it hurts so much to be wait listed like this. To those accepted, congrats! You guys are awesome! And to those rejected, you will find a school that will not only truly benefit from having you, but will be really fun! To those wait listed like me, lets stick together, we’re all in the waiting boat now.

OOS EA deferred D —> Accepted!

Decisions out now on UVA website

nvm delete

In state D deferred EA, waitlisted RD. Already told them to take her off the wait list. Has great offers with great merit scholarships at comparable schools . It’s all good.

@hazelorb one of them is a Decisions thread, the other a Discussion thread

So sorry. I live in Northern Virginia and we have always said that we don’t know WHO gets into UVA. Someone here or there, but honestly it’s a long shot for most people. You’ll go to a great school, where you’ll have a fabulous 4 years. Good luck!

Log into SIS system. UVA does not make it easy to find the link etc. Look for your old email.
My daughter got accepted. OOS.

Accepted!!! I’m really excited - does anyone know if UVA has a preview period thing?

@HouTex

I know what you mean. I applied early action and was deferred, and today I found out I was waitlisted. I thought I stood a good chance and I have gotten into some top privates, so I’m thinking it is just the out-of-state quota.

This was an extremely difficult year for admissions. There was a huge increase in applications over the past couple years. Many people who were denied admission this year would have been accepted in previous years.

Accepted OOS! Feels so good before next week!!!

Waitlisted :(. How many percent do they waitlist? And how are my chances of getting off of it?

2300 SAT, instate, 4.33 gpa, Subject tests 800 Math, 780 Chem, five 5’s and one 3 on AP exams.

I mean what do you have to do? I didn’t have a lot of extra curriculars.

^Thats something I will never understand. Surprised you didnt even get wait listed and your in state.

Accepted! So elated! Really nice news after a waitlist and two rejections!

Could someone possibly clear up the deadline date for accepting a waitlist offer. Is it May 1 or is 2 weeks from now i.e April 5?

Also, if you accept the waitlist offer, must you attend UVa in case you do get off the list? If not, how long do you have to decide?

Really wish UVa had made these things clearer on their FAQ page or in their decision letter.

Waitlisted!

While it is bittersweet, I’m honestly ecstatic because it means I may still be considered out of the thousands and thousands of applicants. This in itself is an honor. I was even starting to prepare myself for rejection. I want to congratulate all those who were accepted! And to those who were rejected (I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but it’s true!), remember that you are exceptionally talented and that everything happens for a reason. You will end up at the right school, and that school will be lucky to have you. Regardless of whether of not I’m admitted, I’m thankful to have made it this far.

S rejected…congrats to all that were accepted and good luck to wait list group! Can accepted OOS post stats please?
