University of Virginia Transfer 08

Hey, guys.

Im wondering if any of you uva prospects have heard back from the university yet? If so, list stats and decision.

I attend CC in Va and am enrolling as a 3rd year
SGA pres
3.8 GPA
strong essays
mentored troubled teenagers
VP of campus crusade

I applied but im pretty sure they don't notify you of a decision until May 1st

It's a little early to be making this thread IMO, since we can't view our decisions till April 30th (online).

Good luck to all though, let's hope we get in.

is there any chance dat the notifications gonna come out before May 1st? or its just gonna be that exact date?

It said today on the transfer blog that decisions will be available online (if you applied online) and mailed May 1.

dang!! I dont know what im going to do! I have to send my William & Mary notification that i have a"accepted their oo\ffer" by May 1st. So, I have to make that decision based on the information available to me THAT DAY!?

What would you guys recommend me doing?

Thanks for the help.

Which school do you want to go to more? If William and Mary is your first choice, accept them right now. If you're undecided between the two, then it's a little more complicated...

I can't wait for UVA to send out the results though. I want to go there soooo much.

I'd call W&M and explain your situation; maybe they'll give you an extension? Otherwise you'll have to put down your deposit and risk losing it if you get accepted at UVa. I'm in an identical situation, but the way I look at it, if I'm accepted I'll be more than happy to lose the deposit at my safety.

Ercmilla, Send in that deposit. I will tell you from experience, last year I was very much confident ill get into my main schools that I didn't put in the deposit for my back up school. I did Not get into my desired school and there was no more studio space (Arch. Major) for transfer students at my back up school, so I had to stay in a community college another year.

This year, I sent in my deposit right away for my back up school, which is also may 1st - i find out about all my other schools that date too, trust me, you WILL NOT REGRET sending in that deposit. Ask yourself this one main question, Will you risk your future for only 300 dollars?

For UVa, you will know your admission decision, ONLINE, April 27th or 28th, thats when i found out last year. Still, do not risk William and Marry, that is also is a very prestigious school.

If it's just a matter of 300 bucks, you should go ahead and deposit, i got this problem too.....this waitin really drives me crazy!

300, 400, 500 - who cares, trust me, don't risk your future on a couple hundred of bucks. were not talking thousands here.

Virginia is the big one in the Public Trio for me. We shall see. What is it now? Two weeks and two days?

Exactly 2 weeks from today, we should be able to find out online. :)

I'm nervous.

My first choice is and always has been UVA. However, I feel that sending in my deposit to William & Mary is the safest/smartest thing to do right now. I think theyre actually giving me an extension, but I dont think im going to risk it. Thanks for the advice and good luck to everyone!

Bump, only 10 more days.

I'm getting increasingly nervous.

Me too, although I don't anticipate...sigh

If I get accepted I'll have to make a tough decision...

UVA or Vanderbilt..

Bleh..

THE WAITING IS KILLING ME!!!!! haha ;D

We'll get through it, guys...

Hmm, I think you find out earlier online. I strongly remember last year I found out on the 28th of April, and not the 30th. But thats just me.

EDIT: the only thing you should worry about is if your a sophomore transfer, theyre pretty tough on you guys because they still strongly check your HS Record, and need exemplar grades to get in as a sophomore. Junior transfers, they practically neglect your HS record and concentrate on your college record. So if you are a sophomore transfer, don't be so glum if you get rejected, your chances increase much more next year. AND DO NOT FORGET TO CALL THEM AND ASK "WHY?" - If you get rejected, they will be blunt with you. But enough about the negative talk, let me hope for the best and good luck everyone!

Great, I'm a sophomore transfer with HS grades that are very mediocre at best... :(

BTW we find out online on April 30th at 5:00 PM.
