Anyone know when decisions come out?

I’m not sure if I necessarily agree with this. I’m a William and Mary student and have taken classes at Mason before. To be honest, there was not as much of a difference as one might think. But then again, I’m a Math major, and there are only so many different ways to teach math at the lower level classes–that is, Linear Algebra, Calc I-III, Diffy EQ, etc.

the decisions are probably gonna come out late april… i think thats when it came out last year…

Wow its been a while- nothing gets you surfing the internet for 4 hours straight faster than getting friend zoned!

@HopesToBeAHoya in all fairness, the calc i took at mason was pretty intense so I can imagine if that holds for math. Especially calc2 where there was no curve. For subjects like finance, I have heard people work upwards of 80 hous a week at UVA so that is a little bit more variable from what I gather.

@Speddy93 I am not sending one in.

@JohnnyBazooka

Real men don’t believe in the friend zone!

Jokes aside, I’m pretty anxious about finding out where I get in. The website says that all Fall 2012 transfer decisions will be sent out by May 1, but I hope I get mine sooner than that!

@GregFields

lol she.said.no.just.like.this.

Anyways, there is no need to be anxious, provided you have done your best. I was nervous about COMM for a while, but gradually realized that even if I don’t get in, there isn’t much I would or could have done differently. Getting into UVA, or really any college, won’t make you the person you want to be, it is just one of many paths to get there. Rejection is by no means the end of your story (I should know, I was rejected the first time!).

I love how quiet this thread is every year until literally 30 minutes before the release time. I have a conspiracy theory against the green dots and check marks though.

Do share this conspiracy theory…

LOL. Wait, so who has a check mark and who has a circle? I have a circle.

Lol my conspiracy theory is that the people they are most likely accepting and the people they are most likely denying have a check… The people that are just in the middle have a circle. In the middle as in they haven’t made a firm decision on them… Although they say no decisions are final till may, I think they have a good idea of what they will decide when they read it… and those who they feel more strongly about have the check.

I have the circle. Does anyone actually have a check? Haven’t seen any posts about it.

I have a check but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t mean anything

what are your stats instater?

Hey I have a check, but I also know from seeing this every year in the past thread that they dont really mean anything. The blogger for UVA just posted that they didnt mean anything other than your file is ready for review. I like your conspiracy, so I will give in and give you my stats.

I am: 23 years old, US Navy veteran. I am an OOS community college student.

Im not a big proponent of giving out details on the forums but I will summarize.

GPA- 3.6: will raise to a 3.7 I imagine. I have all A’s this semester.
Hours: 45 applying 61 after this semester.

SAT: N/a out high school to long.
H/s: Not even worth telling. Lower than low.
Essays: About as good as you can get. I have knack for writing, and I have an author/editor for a father.
Hooks: Tons of extra activities while in the the Navy. I am a veterans mentor right now.
Had a very good job in the Navy which looks good on applications.

Applied: Yale EWSP, Dartmouth, UVA, UNC, GWU, Emory, Georgia
Accepted: Georgia
Denied: None so far:)

Well, good sir. Having a check mark with those stats may have just debunked my entire conspiracy. I’m currently in the process of making a spreadsheet on my findings though aka a post it note about who got accepted with check marks and circles in past years depending on when they got their check marks. Okay, I have no life. THREE MORE WEEKS ISH~ :D

Hahaha interesting…I have a check, too, but I’m also going to assume it doesn’t mean anything.

GPA- 3.85
Hours: 34
SAT: 2160 (610M/750R/800W)
H/s: Really good. Valedictorian.
Essays: Good…essays are a strong point for me.
Hooks: Not sure?
Applied: Just UVA…if I don’t get in, I’ll probably stay where I am.
Accepted: N/A
Denied: N/A

My theory seems to be holding up well so far!!

What is your conspiracy theory?

i got a email from Office of Virginia Status on Friday.

it says

"Your Application for Virginia In-State Educational Privileges, which
was filed in connection with your application for admission to the
University, has been referred to our office.

Some required information is missing on the form. Please complete and
submit a new copy of the attached in-state application. Please make
sure that all required boxes have been checked and that all requested
information is entered in full."

is that a good sign or everybody’s application for In-State Privileges will referred to the office?
