***Official UW Class of 2021 Acceptance Thread***

Waiting…

When they say decisions will be released starting from the 15th, do they mean people will start RECEIVING letters on the 15th, not UW starting to mail them out?

I think they will start sending them out on the 15th. that’s why they have the 15-31 march period, cos it takes time to send all the mail out and for applicants to receive.

Does anyone know if we’ll still get emails if accepted? I know they’re emailing rejections, but will acceptances be sent via postal mail AND email or just the letter?

can anyone chance me?

international student studying at a school in seattle for junior + senior year. i attended an IB school for freshman-sophomore, but my grades were crappy back then. after i moved to seattle, my grade increased significantly.

gpa (uw): 3.55
sat (super scored): 1130
toefl: 92
my senior courses: calculus (A-), law & society (B+), ethnobotany (B), physics (A-), advanced drawing (A+), comparative literature (A)
my UW diversity essay was about me having to transition from a muslim elementary school, to a christian school, to a liberal school in the states, and just how i’ve managed to adapt various environments throughout my life.
my personal essay was about a trivial thing but turned out to be meaningful.
extracurriculars: piano, various song collaborations back in my country with professional musicians, was an intern at a major pharmaceutical company last summer, community service for 4 years, etc (those are the highlights)

i’m really nervous because UW starts sending out decisions in 2 days and i’m not even certain if i’ll get in or not.

no i think they already mailed them out and in state residents start receiving them on the 15th

What does UW think about running start? I did full time the past two years and will be getting my AA degree. I do have a rather low college gpa though (3.3). Does running start help my application even though I don’t have the best grades?

I talked to my friend who got accepted to UW last year. She said on the 15th around afternoon, your admission status should be available on the uwnetid portal, although she got hers 2 days later. The mail comes out later, but the admission status should be available on the portal between 15-17.

I hope getting into UW isn’t as hard as getting into UNC Chapel Hill… That was really an icy patch…

@Sandy12345 UW will be easier, UNC is nearly impossible out of state hahah

Just contacted the Admissions Office and was told that admissions decisions will be rolling throughout the next 16 days and they won’t all be posted at once online. Hope this helps!

will the decisions be posted on MyUW?

yes, sometime within the next 16 days!!

So so excited and scared at the same time. The waiting game is almost over

This might be a weird or dumb inquiry. I logged into my UW account and I was in this weird area where I was able to sign up for courses. I must have clicked something, but I am not sure how I got there. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this.

@ETH2355 What page are you on? I got to some kind of academic planning page but it’s not the same thing as you described.

@ETH2355 I accidentally ended up in that area too… does it say Academic Year 2016-2017, and there are buttons that say “add a course?”

@castlehes thats where I ended up. I think that page is just to plan out your schedule and doesn’t really mean anything.

I think we get a letter if we are accepted and e-mail if denied. Is this right or did I make it up?

@scubadiverman Yes, that is correct. In an email sent on 3/1/17, UW said: “We work hard to notify students as early as possible in the March 15-31 period. Please keep in mind: Offers of admission will be sent by postal mail, while denies will be sent by email only.”

Regardless of whether you were accepted or denied, though, it should also be able to be viewed on their application portal.
