Thank you in advance!

I’m sure everyone received the email from UW Admissions a few minutes ago. It confirms that admission decisions will be mailed out between March 1 and 15. Acceptance letters will be sent via USPS mail; Rejections will be sent via email.

So, start checking your good old USPS mailbox next Thursday!

So I just got the email that they will be sending decisions between March 1-15th, and it says that they they will work hard to send all mailed letters in that time frame. If March 1-15th is for nailed letters then when will decisions go up on the portal?

Got my question answered today at the UW (am currently visiting from SoCal) and pretty much the admissions officer said to wait for the letter, and not look on the portal because it is unreliable, so just look out for that physical letter friends!

Great @amigadelauni . And hopefully you enjoyed the snow and sub-freezing temperature for the past few days.

are rejection emails sent out on march 1st??

Does UW send send acceptances by postal mail to international students?

Sounds like you can be either accepted (via mail) or rejected (via email) any day between the 1st and the 15th. It’s not clear how the portal comes into play. Seems inefficient and agonizing.

What about international students? How would we hear?

UW may be different, but our experience with other schools is that the email doesn’t give you your decision, it just tells you that your admission status has been updated on the portal and you go find out there. It seems unambiguous that getting an email from UW in the 3/1-3/15 period is not a good sign, unless maybe you’ve already gotten your acceptance letter in the mail.

Sounds to me like the letters will be send out earlier to allow for USPS delay; international acceptance will probably be sent out first, followed by OOS, followed by in-state; Seattle area probably get it last since it’s a one day delivery. Email rejections will probably come late, close to March 15. And by March 15, they’ll update portal to reflect all decisions.

That’s my personal interpretation of the message. NOT from any official UW admission channel. Any current or past UW students here that can give some historical perspective?

@bogeyorpar I know you said it’s your own interpretation but is the part about them mailing the acceptances to international students your interpretation as well or did the university specify that? Because I have no clue how UW is going to notify internationals.

Looking at a thread from last year, the range of dates were Mar 15-31 but they released them on Mar 15th itself. And it looks like we will be able to find on the portal even for accepted. Here’s what someone wrote -

My D got DA to UW aero engineering. We found out last night by going on her MYUW and logging in. Then we clicked on ‘academics’ and then on ‘unofficial transcript’. I read on CC that not to worry if nothing is there. It takes UW a couple of weeks to upload everyone’s stuff. I assume her envelope will come in the next day or two."

I emailed UW, asking a question over a month ago and I have received no reply.

Has anyone that has emailed UW received a reply from them?

Yes my DD emailed back in October and received a response in 48 hours-ish.

@monkeyg56 I emailed an UW admissions counselor a month ago, and I also received no reply.

@collegedream871 I’m glad to hear it wasn’t just me. Are you planning on doing anything about it? I don’t know if I should because I don’t want to ruin my chances of getting in, but on the other hand, I’m a little annoyed about this
