***Official UW Class of 2022 Decision Thread***

D accepted Pre-Humanities, OOS,

Portal back up and working, still no decision posted. Some of these stats I’m seeing for in-state vs. OOS makes me believe the in-state bias is stronger at UW than I thought it was, more like a Texas, UVA, or UNC. That’s their prerogative, of course, but I hadn’t thought there was that much of a difference in the stats of in-state vs. OOS as these are showing.

Here are the answer to some questions I have been seeing a lot. I beg you to read these because this is the last time I will be posting these answers (as I have addressed some of these multiple times).

  1. Majors: If your assigned major is Computer Science, Business Administration, or Engineering - Undeclared; Congratulations! You were admitted directly into those programs. If you applied for any other Direct to Major programs, you will be assigned pre-major and direct entry will be determined in 1-2 weeks as the website states. For all others, pre-major will be assigned but you are not stuck in "social sciences" if you really want to pursue "arts". It's more or less a fancy word for undeclared. I encourage you to read: http://admit.washington.edu/apply/freshman/admission-to-majors/
  2. Not all admissions decisions are out.
  3. Notifications: Most Admitted and denied students can check their status on MyUW (once the portal is available again). Denied and wait listed students will also be provided with followup email communication. Admitted students will receive a packet in the mail. Admitted students with an international address will also be emailed, in addition to the mailed packed.
  4. Mail: I have no idea how long the mail will take to get to your house. Just have faith that it will show up soon and at least you know your decision! If I was interested in those logistics, I would have pursued a career with USPS/UPS/FedEx/DHL/etc... :)
  5. Denied/waitlisted applicants: We assess students using holistic review so it is hard to find just one reason an applicant was not admitted. I encourage you to review how admissions policies: http://admit.washington.edu/apply/freshman/policies/review/

My portal has still not changed… ):

ACCEPTED

OOS student
GPA: 3.9
SAT: 1260
Major: Pre-major

checked portal last night and my admission was there!

@UWadmissionstaff you might want to start a new post for the information in #1522 – it’s going to get lost among all the other responses here.

Accepted Stats-

1340 SAT
38 IB predicted (4 HLs)
OOS
Strong ECs

Don’t know which major I was accepted for yet as the website is under maintenance, wither CS or Business.

@UTSquared, one factor may be that the UW receives many more applications from nonresidents than from residents. Last year, they received around 32,500 from nonresidents and around 12,500 from residents.

I’ve been lurking until now, but I feel the need to call this out as misinformation. My son just got DA to CS and we are definitely not a white family. We are in-state.
This is in response to “Looks like they’re rolling out decisions by demographic. All of my white friends have heard while none of my mixed or any other race friends have. Can anyone else confirm?”

welp, my portal still hasn’t changed since last night. admissions staff didn’t answer my question as to when more decisions will be posted so guess i’ll keep waiting. if anyone who didn’t have a decision last night has one anytime today please post on here.

Can you still apply for honors?

Accepted

In-State
GPA: 3.7
ACT: 32
7 APs
Assigned Major: Pre-Health Sciences

Super excited that I got into my local school! Anyone know exactly what Pre-Health Science entails? Ive seen that people have been getting placed as pre-science for now, is this the same thing?

I got in!!! Congrats to everyone else who got in, hope to see you all there this fall!

@fergie24x same for me

Portal is now working normally.

Does anyone know when the next wave is coming out?

If you look at admissions statistics for (at least) the last two years, you are clearly significantly more likely to be admitted in-state than OOS. Whether this is primarily due to differences in application numbers (see @UWfromCA’s observation), OOS applicants preferring already crowded majors, or policy, that’s not clear. I’d guess it’s both.

Replying to "Anyone else who’s a WA state resident show as a Non-Resident?
I am guessing my dual citizenship caused confusion. "
Yes my son has the same thing showing. I assume it’s a minor issue that we can sort out on Monday, once the Financial aid office opens.

so how many waves have been released so far???

After logging into ur NETID where do u go to check the application status?
