I’m a senior from California with a 3.4 GPA and a 1320 SAT. UW is my dream school but I will most likely be denied. Good luck to all future Huskies!
@sgordon6 you think they do admit by major? I hope so because that is the only chance I have of getting in

Does anyone know if anyone has received any decisions yet?
@nsl007 nope
UW will most likely consider your major when accepting applicants- for example, if you have ~1400 SAT, it’ll be very hard for you to get in if you applied for computer science, but will be good enough for any other major other than CSE and maybe engineering.
According to their presentations on campus and speaking with the admissions director after the presentation, you are admitted to the University first. If you are applying to one of the colleges that have Direct to Major or Direct to College , such as Engineering, Computer Science, Informatics, or Architecture, you will automatically be considered for those if you indicate that on your application. See descriptions on this web page. Some are notified after you receive general admissions.
https://admit.washington.edu/apply/admission-to-majors/ Switching into the major of your choice later if you don’t originally get it will depend on the major. Talk to an admissions rep if you are admitted about the likelihood of switching. Some are more likely than others.

As of March 3rd, 2019…anyone gotten their decisions back yet?
@kennethh4503 nope
Any guesses when we might hear back?
@SeniorSzn if we are to follow last year’s trend, probably not until this Friday evening, so March 8th around 8 pm. I’ve heard those who won presidential scholarships have already received their acceptances on the 1st. Don’t quote me tho.
Did you learn that from reddit? Can you post a link of the reddit post? I could not find that anywhere)
I’m in SoCal and just checked the mail. Nothing from U of W.
I’m no expert but the portal will most likely be updated with decisions before you will get anything in the mail.
@JosheyBear - Google “knowledge_spoon reddit university of washington presidential scholar” - should be the first hit.
Thanks for posting that @To2023 I liked the part about the admissions person saying that the majority of decisions will come out this week! I hope it’s true.
Thank you! Do you think this is a special case or other CS students have been admitted already?
@JosheyBear. Special case. Presidential Scholar. There maybe only a very few of those cases. Quite deserving of the special handling.
I’ve got a friend who recieved the Presidential Scholar thing. Same thing as the redditor explained, admissions person pulled him out of class, and all that. Even his UW web id portal hasnt updated yet. He got admitted into business, hopefully the rest come out soon!
