How do you know if you were accepted directly into your major vs. misc acceptance?
@Globehead only business administration, computer science, and engineering have freshman direct programs. If you applied to one of these three programs and were accepted direct to that major, your assigned major in the portal will say either business administration, computer science, or engineering undeclared. If you were not it will say pre-major (ie pre-sciences, etc.) None of the other majors have freshman direct programs so technically they are “miscellaneous” acceptance.
Here are a couple of pages that describe the pathways to various majors (most majors do not directly admit freshmen, which allows students to take prerequisites and consider different majors before committing to any):
https://admit.washington.edu/apply/admission-to-majors/
https://www.washington.edu/students/gencat/degree_programsTOC.html
(Click “undergraduate program” after selecting a particular major)
@globalhead they have two line one says " Applied for : "… and other line say admitted to “Pre Science”

Do they release financial aid status along with your admission acceptance or does that come later? Has anybody received any merit-based scholarship yet (particularly the purple or gold scholarship for out of state students)? If so, where is the financial aid status located?

@gijung I have the same question as you. The link shared indicates biochemistry will notify regarding the major and if directly admitted some time after the initial acceptance. However, it doesn’t say how long after. I hope your friend is right about it being 2 weeks.
@yeehawlolo 49.1% as of last year’s admissions cycle
@neurochic I have the same question. Can you let me know if you learn the answer as to how and when we find out about honors and purple and gold scholarship?
