I wonder a little bit if anyone got decisions today. I have to think admissions offices all over dropped everything today after this massive admissions scandal, regardless of if their schools were implicated or not, as I’m sure they all want to make sure they’re being extra careful and doing everything right after this mess.
Urgent!! Asking for a friend-- she recently got into UW but told me her first semester grades were abysmal due to some personal circumstances (being homeless, etc.) Her second semester grades right now are all A’s I believe. Will she get rescinded??
New here but have been freaking out like everyone else. We’re still waiting on my son’s status. OOS - Oregon. Homeschooled/Unschooled. 1250 SAT, 750 World History subj, 5something in math subject (wish we could delete that one). Lots of weird interests & certifications & awards, but no volunteer work. General admission application with an architecture major. He’s taking some community college classes for “fun” while he waits for fall, and turns out that’s not a good thing! He got switched from Freshman applicant to Transfer. We didn’t know… I’m afraid to bug the admissions office too much in fear of being “that mom”. I’ve been refreshing the portal page since about Feb 1. :-S It’s his dream school, though he’s been accepted at UOregon, Oregon State, and UNLV. If he’s rejected, he guesses he’ll go to OSU.
@drumminggeek87 still no word here. But I always thought that they had their decisions made by March 1st as they are gonna be releasing them through the 15th. Do you think they’re still reviewing? Btw on Feb 13th, I was contacted for a senior year grades and courses and tomorrow is the 13th so do you think they might release my decision tomorrow?
@MangoLover11223 I don’t know a ton specifically about UW but I have a lot of extenuating circumstances in my high school career (severe chronic illness and a few low grades b/c of disability discrimination) and I have always been told by colleges that they want you to explain and want to know about that stuff! They definitely don’t want to reject (or rescind acceptance from) someone who is qualified but has some things that look ~abnormal~ b/c of circumstances out of their control.
I would warn that sometimes public schools are a little stricter on this than private schools, as they often have stricter policies in place about what’s required (in terms of grades, # of credits in certain subject areas, etc.), but UW was pretty open to my explanation when I gave it back in the fall (I’m waiting on a decision so I can’t tell you whether or not they were actually receptive to that and accepted me), so I would definitely advise your friend to reach out to them and explain what happened. I can’t guarantee it will help obviously but it is 10000% worth a try, and I’d be shocked and appalled if they didn’t take circumstances that extreme into account.
I’d also recommend that she ask someone at her school (counselor or principal, or someone else in administration) to be available to back her up on what she’s saying. I had my counselor write a letter for another school that was originally hesitant about whether or not to excuse my circumstances, but after getting a letter from my counselor I was accepted, into the honors program, with a scholarship. Having a “trusted adult” to back her up could make all the difference in the world so I would advise her to talk to administrators about that asap, possibly even before she reaches out to UW directly.
I hope your friend figures this out!
@SeniorSzn I’ve always been unclear on whether or not they have all decisions finalized by March 1 tbh. On the one hand, their application, while competitive, doesn’t seem so complicated that they’d still be reviewing this late in the game, and I also don’t really think that people whose decisions are released late in the March 1-15 window are “borderline” and still being debated this late? On the other hand, I don’t get the logic of having every decision done by March 1st but releasing them in these weird waves. That being said, a lot of state schools seem to do it so I assume there must be some reason for it that I don’t understand. I know I applied to Cal Poly SLO and they roll out decisions really slowly even though their admissions are totally based off of numbers and nothing else (no essays, extracurriculars, etc).
TLDR; I have no clue if they’re still reviewing or what their thinking on this is lol
Re: the date that they emailed you - usually I wouldn’t think that the date would mean that much, but what’s interesting is I got emailed on January 14th, so it’s kind of interesting to me that both your date and mine fell in the 1st through 15th window? I honestly don’t know though, and I might be turning into a crazy conspiracy theorist here lol.
Super interesting! Let’s give it until the 15th and see what happens. @ drumminggeek87
Is anyone planning on attending UW as a pre-major for foster?
S was accepted last Friday but we still haven’t received anything in the mail. is anyone else still waiting for their acceptance packages? Seeing lots of instagram posts of students with their “heart” UW fliers.
I’m still waiting, and I live around 45 minutes from campus. They will most likely be delivered by the end of the week, maybe not if we’re unlucky @Mojo88
@antamiii Thanks! will wait patiently

yeah! pretty surprised though.
did you get anything back yet? i feel bad for you guys… at least at least it will come out in two days, soooo…
Hey you guys, I have a general question. In what cases do colleges rescind admission offers? Like if my final grades don’t match my predicteds, will it be taken away?
@julsaguaro I called the admin office yesterday and she said they were mailed out on Thursday. That made no sense because you, at the very least, would have at least received it by now much less my D is socal.
