***Official UW Class of 2023 Decision Thread***

@uwlover267 have you heard anything back on your appeal?

@KidWithQs5436 How did UW let you know your appeal was denied?

@Fortmama1 how? I thought there were only direct admissions to CS and Business? but congrats!

I thought the same but he received an email last week from the Dept of a chemistry informing him of the direct admit

This page shows the majors that have a direct admission pathway:

Same for my daughter. She applied to Neuroscience but no confirmation yet from them. She just did get offer for pre-sciences few weeks back but since then we are waiting for neuroscience confirmations. Any idea by when they usually confirm?

Just got the appeal back and my son got in!

when did your son submit his appeal? I submitted mine the 21st

Congrats! can you please tell us his major, stats, basis for appeal and when it was submitted? My d was waitlisted and is considering appealing

@godawgs1016 he sent it in a week ago

@PtownCa He had a 3.9 unweighted gpa. Took 6 AP classes. 1280 on SAT

@Huskydad2019 how did they notify him?

@bittoo I had the same question. I applied for neuroscience and they are supposed to notify us whether we got into the major or not but still no word.

@SeniorSzn Thanks for sharing your situation. Lets hope for the best. I wish they confirm soon. I did send them email also but no reply yet. Not sure if calling would help. if you hear anything, do let me know. Thank you so much in advance.

@bittoo and @SeniorSzn - Its possible due to spring break, these specific “Direct To Major” decisions didn’t come out this week, so hopefully next week. I’m assuming these decisions would need to be confirmed by general admissions in coordination with the specific departments.

Just got my appeal back and I got accepted !

@godawgs1016 congrats!!! im super happy for you ^^

@godawgs1016 what were your stats? I sent my appeal in on monday 3/25 so looks like I’ll hear next week, I’m so nervous!

Wanted to share in the hopes others this year and in future years can learn from our experiences. My kid was originally waitlisted. Did appeal that first weekend and heard end of the next week with petition approved! Had a 3.6 UW GPA, 1370 SAT, but weak AP calculus grades in Junior year. he’s not looking at STEM, but social sciences. addressed some extenuating circumstances in the appeal with a really strong “second” essay, were able to add a great letter of rec (since the original application does not allow those) and strong senior transcript showing 5 A’s and a B with 4 AP classes. We are relieved but also were stressed that this one was far and away the top choice. My advice to kids and parents is to apply to several schools and have at least 3 that you’d be happy no matter which one. My kid would probably have gone to Seattle U otherwise (with good merit aid), knows it would be a good experience, but wasn’t over the moon happy. Most out of state public schools were just not an option for financial reasons. If you are going to appeal, their criteria are pretty specific. It’s a roadmap and if you make a strong case, again, based on UW criteria for appeal, seems that sure helps. I would say the strong case is why basically the end of junior year is not a complete look at the student’s record and chances of success, and why adding in the senior year shows a potentially different story. at least in our case. good luck and success to all!

My D was accepted but wait listed for Honors. Any thoughts on the chances she’ll be admitted to Honors? They will notify between June and July I believe. UW is her first choice but she wanted the Honors program also…
