I am an international applicant and I also received the same email.
I don’t mean to scare or mislead anyone! Her overall GPA was 3.5 when she applied because of her low GPA as a Freshman (2.8). The 4.3 is her current Senior Year grades which don’t count. So yes, for the Udub she is low at application as the typical entry is 3.8 and up.
I’ll be fairly honest. As much as I love UW, this admission office is one of the worst I’ve encountered during this college apps season. As an in-state student, I was marked OOS, called the admission office twice & even emailed one of the admission officer once, but it never got changed. In the email I said that “OOS and in-state has a very different admission rate so I hope that it can be changed”, and I got a reply stating that “I can fill in a form if admitted”… Not to mention the not so great generic emails… Sorry that this is a little negative, but I just felt like I really should express myself, hopefully this won’t offend anyone. Good luck everyone.
How competitive is the international studies major? If I don’t get direct admit to major of choice, can I still be admitted as undecided or something? Very new to this-ah!
@abiistark international relations does not do direct to major admission, so you will be admitted pre-major to the university.
Can someone please help with Question about setting up UW NetID? When click on link to “set up UW NetID” DS logged in using the email and password he used for coalition app. This puts him in to the “applyweb.com” webpage. That doesn’t appear to be the same as creating a UW NetID… Or, is that where we want to be? It’s Univ of Washington home page… on left side it says My Dashboard, Go to Application, Create an Account… But when we click on create an account it says, “You are already signed in”. Help!!
does anyone know how competitive political science is? i’m really nervous for my decision.
does anyone know if we get any sort of email or notification if our portal has been updated or do we just keep constantly checking until it is?
@tweetypie101 I believe emails are only sent to notify of rejection or waitlist status. Last year people just incessantly checked the portal. I hope it would change this year but I assume not
@Jaderoses If you have created the UW NetID, the sign in page for the portal is my.uw.edu (with the UW Net ID and password).
@Jaderoses Go to this link https://admit.washington.edu/uw-netid/ and click on the one that says "create your NetID, then log in with email and password (email you used for the application I believe), and it should take you to a page that tells you what your son’s UWNetID is. Then go to my.uw.edu to check portal. I hope this works.
@castiel19 thank you!!! He was able to set up his UWNetID finally! And he could log in at my.uw.edu. Question about what everyone sees when logging in though. There’s nothing about his application. It says “Home” “Accounts” “Profile” “Calendar” on left. In the middle, it says “Winter, week 8 of 10” a bunch of links to various resources, etc. WHERE IS THE APPLICATION STATUS info?
@Jaderoses The format is skewed below, but this is what my son’s portal shows. Directly under Week 8 or 10 is the line Your …Application… Then a tab to check your status. Maybe your son’s hasn’t loaded yet since he just set it up?

@Jaderoses Mine was like that when I first set mine up! I’m so sorry, I don’t totally remember how I fixed it. But make sure you are definitely on the “MyUW” tab (check upper left corner). Also, I think I logged on a week-ish later and there was more about my application status. So maybe it takes a bit to update? I’m not positive tho.
One thing I always do is go through the process via Google. So I look up “MyUW portal” in Google and click on the link that says “MyUW - University of Washington”. Then I log in with my NetID. Probably unnecessary but the web pages can be glitchy.
Sorry if none of this helps you! Hope maybe it does?
Is it a good indication that I got accepted if the Financial Aid Department requested verification forms so close to the decision period? My FAFSA was processed by the department back in December, so it would make sense to have them request verification in December or January; however, I did not receive an email requesting for verification until today. If I did not get accepted, why ask me to verify my FAFSA? I know there is no definite way of knowing if I got accepted before the decision date, but this is a little odd to me. Hopefully, other people are experiencing this as well.
@julsaguaro thank you!
@MadamZeroni123 What are your stats?
@JasonBarclay Do you have an insight into the UW decisions notification schedule for this year? The recent email indicated March 1 - 15, but they didn’t start updating the portal until March 9th last year. I think we are all hoping for some news tomorrow.
I am so scared for tomorrow and will just constantly be checking my portal anyone else?
@JasonBarclay can you elaborate more on the “FAFSA flock in?” Are you saying that I got accepted? Also, why would I be receiving left over financial aid? Thank you!
