Does VU accept all their minorities through Mosaic? Is it possible to still be accepted regular decision as a minority student who did not receive a Mosaic invite?

@Rivero, matrixsurgeon says above that most minorities are not accepted through MOSAIC (I don’t know for sure that’s true but I would guess he is right). Does anyone know when the rest of RD comes out? Late March I assume

@Rivero Not all minorities are accepted through MOSAIC. (And not all people accepted through MOSAIC are your “traditional” type of diverse.) It’d be physically impossible to invite ALL admitted black, Hispanic, and Native American students to a single day, let alone them plus the people they recruit for geographic diversity (and whatever other kinds of diversity there are) as well as Asians (which seems to count as minorities here). They sent the invites with over a month left in the admissions process, and I am 99% sure that they haven’t been able to get through all minority applications by MOSAIC invite time. You can totally still be admitted through RD even if you didn’t get an invite.

@kickemoff The rest of RD is supposed to be out by April 1, so late March is probably the most accurate description we’ll get until they send out another email.

I’m a little confused…have any RD non-URM’s who aren’t scholarship winners received a decision yet?

@enouragingmom As I’ve stated before, not all MOSAIC invites are URM. I’m white and Asian, a poster above is white, but we were all invited because Vanderbilt thought we were “diverse” in some way or another (geography, in thought [whatever that means]). But to get at what you’re really asking, no, no one RD has been notified about admission except for these select “diverse” applicants and scholarship winners.

General Comments: I advise all applicants to apply for merit scholarships. Now that I am a Vandebilt scholar, I have a full ride to Vandy and a whole lot of opportunities on account of this prestigius scholarship. Also, try to take as much advantage of the opportunities that are offered to you at school. And plan ahead! Take your SATs in your junior year so that you have ample time to make up for any new ones you may have to take and so that you can take more subject tests. Please DO attend all information sessions because I wouldn’t have applied for the scholarship had it not been for Vanderbilt’s info session at my school. So learn about the opportunities you can make use of.

Decisions date for Vanderbilt anyone?

Has anyone received directions on how to check application status online? I remember receiving an email that said I would be given instructions but, alas, no email or instructions.

Well, they were announced the last week of March last year, if I’m remembering correctly. And then it took days for the snail-mail to reach us, at least this year they’ve moved into the 21st Century. Also, for those who are thinking of visiting them, it seems that the open houses are scheduled for the weekend of Apr 18.

Are you sure they’re posting decisions online? I haven’t seen anything that would indicate a different process from last year? If so, please post link.

@neonpinklime
I don’t know if this is completely confirmed or not but I believe that this year Vanderbilt will utilize the online portal to release decisions before everyone gets their letter. The MOSAIC letter said something along the lines of “However, the portal won’t be officially updated of your status until all decisions come out” so that tells me that they will release all the decisions online.

Do you know of any specific day the decisions will be released?

I think that it’s April 1st. I don’t remember where I read it, but I’m almost sure it’s that day.

@mukarat12 @WAAHHH @matrixsurgeon

They released them on a portal ED, so I would assume that they will for us as well. It is by April 1st, but should be a few days earlier. March 28th (a Friday) seems like as best a guess of any.

@matrixsurgeon that’s interesting about the mosaic email, thanks for sharing that. The rejection email for cv said the following “Please be aware that the review process for the Class of 2018 is still ongoing and decision letters will be mailed by April 1.” This indicates it will be snail mail. I hope it will be both. Last year’s RD notification went out via US mail and there are lots of posts from candidates in different states getting their letters on different days. The decision was not posted electronically (however, ED1 and ED2 were).

Good luck everyone.

Good Luck everyone.

Good luck to everyone! It’s a long process and now with all the decisions coming out, will hopefully be a fulfilling one!

Thanks Sophie1295.

I posted the link but you edited your comment and my post didn’t make sense. Hope you found the portal though !
