Meant to state “Inside his admit packet” (not “award packet”)…

@momcam

Many schools notify online and then send a letter.

When the early decision results were posted on the portal, were they posted at midnight on Monday night? I want to know what time of day they posted and whether or not they posted results before the envelopes arrived in the mail.

For ED2 the official decision date was February 15. However, on the afternoon of February 6th, Vanderbilt sent an email stating that the decisions would be released on the 8th (a Saturday). The decisions were actually available at 5 p.m. the night before. I would not be surprised if Vanderbilt did the same thing with RD. I am thinking Friday at 5 p.m.

They released on a Monday last year though. I’m hoping we don’t have to wait till Friday

Just called the admissions office. They said an email will go out “the week of April 1st” to tell the students their admission decision is available online. To which I said, “so it could be after April 1st?” He said, “I don’t know. I was just told that it would be the week of April 1st.” That’s their story and they’re sticking to it!

In years past they’ve posted the mailing of the acceptance letters on their blog:
March 25 Monday
March 23 Friday
March 26 Friday
March 26 Thursday
March 23 Wednesday

If they decide to make us wait until April 1, it will be the first time in six years that they’ve done that. But if they do…it’s going to be a long week.

Ughh. I seriously hope they don’t make us wait that long. I was really hoping to hear back from Vanderbilt BEFORE Judgment Day on Thursday. This is just a nerve-wracking time of year.

Same here. I’m guessing that’s just their standard answer that they tell people to say and was hoping they would be out today but I did notice one thing… they posted something about Blair on their blog today. They usually post something on the blog once every few days so I would think they would have held off on posting today if they were planning to post about the mailing in the next day or two.

My family w 2 Ds will most likely have 18 decisions to deal with on judgement day. It’s also opening night of their HS musical which they have been graced with leads in. Oh brother. NOT GOOD TIMING.

Do you think they’ll send emails out BEFORE they post online? Or do what bu did and send an email hours after?

^ I was looking through the 2014 ED threads and both times Vanderbilt sent an email a couple days in advance that informed applicants of the notification date.

Okay, thank you. I was really excited last night when people were predicting decisions coming out last night or tonight at midnight :/

I was on the money with my ED1 prediction, so I’m going to make the same comment here. The admissions staff likes to get out of the way as the news gets out so they don’t have to take so many phone calls from unaccepted, unhappy applicants. In years past, that has often meant mailing on Tuesday for students to receive their decisions on Thursday or Friday. Now that they are pushing decisions out via the online portal, this may mean a Friday afternoon push out so they are out of the office and those unhappy applicants have a chance to lick their wounds over the weekend. When I made this comment in December, one of the ED1 applicant parents chimed in to say that she works for another college in admissions and this was also their philosophy. ED1 was a Friday afternoon push out. I’ve followed Vandy admissions fairly closely since spring 2002 and, as a betting person, I suspect you will hear something this week. They have a strong history of notifying several days before the Ivies and other April 1 schools to, I believe, get admitted students excited about VU while they are waiting on their other decisions.

That person answering the phones for jrmama496 and others is most likely a student worker and they are just parroting the company line. While the online decision process has gone smoothly for ED1 & ED2, this time is going to be a bigger deal and I don’t think they want to tip their hand with any promises of anything earlier than pre-April 1.

Good luck to all of the students and families who are sitting on pins & needles! If I’m wrong and they notify earlier, I will happily eat crow on my prediction knowing how much you all want to know your decision

@2vu0609 but that means this year it wont be before the Ivys

When do HYP, etc. notify now? While I’m still a Vandy parent (grad student now), I’m long past knowing what is going on with other school’s decision dates.

this thursday

That may be a good thing in terms of VU notifying no later than Thursday, sloth83. I would still be inclined to bet on later this week, rather than earlier like tomorrow. Good luck!

Just an observation…Vandy admissions is not having any admissions tours on Friday of this week, but are having tours Saturday. Perhaps a Thursday night release of decisions?

Thursday is Ivy day.
