OFFICIAL Vassar College Class of 2014 RD Applicants

@Sid, SkittleRose: Ok it finally worked…I hope it still works tomorrow for Cornell…:)

This made me lmao too:

Sporting the Oak
Considered very discourteous to disregard, this “Do Not Disturb” sign refers to either frantic cramming or ultimate despair, and indicates the occupant of the room does not wish to be disturbed. The phrase originated at Oxford where a closed oak door (sporting the oak) meant the occupant was to be left alone.

…cramming, I love that word…:)

i love all of your yourspace ideas (: i’m writing about bits and pieces of me and my activities. it’s incredibly boring as compared to the ideas here…

i just started my yourspace today too. what a big procrastinator i am!!

Hi all!

I’m from MN, and my interests at Vassar lie in English and Anthropology. I applied ED to Barnard College of Columbia University and UChicago and was deferred at both places. Regular decision, I’ve applied to Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, Johns Hopkins, NYU, Swarthmore, the U of MN (accepted!), and Northwestern.

I’ve chosen to apply to so many schools because of a “deficit” in my app (a lower GPA). I have a very well-rounded and extremely good writing resume; I completed my eighth novel this past summer. The goal is to work as an editor and publish novels for the rest of my life. :)

Good luck to you all! I’ll be around.

P.S. As for “Your Space,” I submitted that very resume, an Independent Study abstract, and an excerpt from my novel.

Phew!
So I just registered and want to get rid of that annoying “Our records show that you have never posted to our site before!” banner… ;p

Plus I just got done with my Vassar App (yay!). I know, procrastination much? But anyway I’m interested in Bio, Neuroscience, and Spanish and I want to be a doctor. Maybe. =]

I actually wrote about the Vassar quidditch team as one of the appeals in my supplement. lol.

My name is Natasha and I’m a prospective film studies major. I live in Canada, but I go to boarding school in NY.

I can’t believe I’m done with college applications! Good luck everybody :)

Hi everyone,
My name is Alice and I’m from Quincy, MA. I just finished my common app (at last!). Now I just need to revise/ personalize my why Vassar supplement. I am so in love with Vassar and somehow I hope I can show that! :)

I’m Caterina…from Long Island and I’m torn between law and medicine. i’m gonna major in environmental studies/international studies (or poly sci)…hopefully i get accepted :D

Caterina, where on the Island??

It’s funny…Vassar was (admittedly) lower on my list of schools a few days ago. Once I started writing the essay, however, I completely fell head over heels for it.

Hope we’ll all be classmates next fall! :)

Totally! I bet every applicant to VC has that Vassar Moment. I didn’t have it when I was writing my essays though but it was back in June, when for a while I thought that Vassar had become my second choice (my longtime favorite, as some of you already know, was Columbia). Several schools have since risen to replace Vassar (once the infatuation slowly became a measured, but nevertheless strong, love) but I’m certain that I’ll be glad to attend Vassar.

I am much more excited about Vassar than I used to be. As I was doing my essays and research, I was like, This is really a school I could see myself at.

I have 2120 SATs, high rank, great essays, ton of theatre, founder of school’s Gay-Straight Alliance, and some other stuff, so I feel like I am Vassar material, as lame as it sounds. :P

Dramacratic, I know exactly how you feel. :D

My “Wow, Vassar rocks!” moment came when I found this: [YouTube - Vassar’s Channel](http://www.youtube.com/user/Vassar#p/c/F054C70C8AD36983/0/FYWLqNbdHQ0)

^Oh my, I was there too! A few months ago.

lol that is so cool!

My “Vassar sigh” moment took place a few weeks ago when I was going through its site. It really is an amazing place!

I’m obsessed with the Vassar YouTube channel, hahah.

Seriously, guys, the more I think about Vassar, the more I love it. I had no idea it was SO community oriented! It’s too bad that it’s in a nothing town like Poughkeepsie, but I like how it’s a short train ride to the city (which is a short train ride from mi casa). According to my tour guide from back in February, though, there’s a TON that goes on on campus. :D

Vassar’s website is absolutely the best I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t help falling in love with it when I saw their residential houses and when I took the virtual tour. I really wish I could visit there!

Absolutely the best college website I’ve ever visited. Appalled by the Chiristmas page, ha

hey everyone! i’m from Ohio, but was born in Mexico and now I go to a boarding school in India. My mom’s American and my Dad is Mexican/Lebanese. ummm…my interests are political science, foreign languages (particularly sanskrit, hindi, and arabic), and music.

oh! for my part of the ‘your space’ i put in an article i wrote for my newspaper about how the environment is being raped around my school (which is in the foothills of the Indian Himalayas)…
