Official waitlist cal poly slo

For you guys that got wait listed for business, your stats are great!

I got in business with a 3.8 GPA, and a 1140 SAT. Only 2 AP Classes.

no offense but from seeing all the high stats rejected/low stats accepted, i’m becoming very fed up and confused with cal poly’s admission process. I have friend’s at my school that got accepted to their major of choice with lower test scores and GPAs than those posted in this thread. Also, it seems like they don’t consider at all whether classes are IB/AP, as long as the GPA itself is high. All my years in IB seem wasted now -_-, I could have taken regular classes all of highschool and I probably would have been accepted

weighted GPA is 3.87 and I got a 1010 on SAT, I’m still unsure how the heck I got accepted to Industrial Engineering…
Maybe Cuz of my EC?? Captain of Track team. CSF Lifetime achievement…

for everyone who is putting their ECs as a reason why they got in idk if that really matters.
the application did not have a place to put in exactly what we did just how many hours. so i dont think those really played a part.

Did anyone actually get a physical letter of waitlist/rejection yet? Or is this all via the portal?

Wait list information came from checking the admissions portal. “You have been placed on the waitlist at Cal Poly for Fall. You will be receiving a letter with more information very shortly.”

Major: Aerospace Engineering
GPA: 3.97 Weighted
SAT: 1850
ACT: 29
Varsity sports, National Honor Society, leadership positions, 200+ hours of community service.

I’ve been accepted to both UC Davis and UC Irvine for Aerospace through the ELC program which gives auto-admissions to UCs if you’re in the top 3% of your graduating class. Cal Poly SLO is still my first choice, though, and I even applied for Early Decision (though I was obviously turned down).

Does anyone know what the waiting list means, though? I assume it means our selected major is full, but do we have to wait for others to turn down their acceptance for us to be selected off the list?

I cant find ANY information about Cal Poly’s waitlists online, would admissions be annoyed if I called and asked them about their waitlisting system?

no they wouldnt! thats what admissions office is there for!
i called like 20 times before i got any reply for my admission status lol

oh, okay. Also, waitlisted people have to wait until were accepted to sign up for housing and everything else, right?

GPA 3.86
ACT 32
Electrical Engineering

Waitlisted, damn…

^damn thats a kick in the groin. you should be in

Electrical Engineering
GPA: Around 3.7 UC wise. 4.0+ weighted
2050 SAT
740 Math 2
680 Chem
240+ Hours
Very hard courses, college courses etc…

Does this mean, when someone rejects their admission, you get in? I wonder why I was not offered my alternate major.

Legend, I asked CalPoly’s admission in one of the web session last year whether they would consider the alternate if a student is rejected from the first major. The answer is hardly. They said they ALWAYS have more qualified applicant than they can accommodate in any given major that they hardly consider alternate major.

I guess that makes sense. By the way, really, how good is Engineering at Cal Poly? I know it is well respected. But ranking wise, where does its stand?

EDIT: http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/spec-engineering

According to this pretty high.

Perhaps just as important as ranking are the percentage and quality of job placements for Cal Poly engineering grads. When we researched this last year the results were impressive; circa 98% is what I recall with a list of all star companies who not only do the hiring but support many of the ‘learn by doing’ programs as well.

engineering is golden at cal poly. its the place to be if you want an engineering degree, and would like a job afterwards

Waitlisted today for Kinesiology. 3.81 GPA, 2020 SAT (1380 Reading/Math), work related to the field, ECs, etc.

lol you guys are getting PWNED hard this year … I had a 3.4 no AP’s or EC’s whatsoever worthy of noting and 1910 SAT and was accepted to SLO for business

yeah I had a few 5 AP tests, too  But it was my own fault applying for Kinesiology, I knew that major was super tough to get into especially this year.
