whooooose applying?

My S! He’s already sent in his application. Excited. And scared to death.

Me! Haven’t started yet :/

Just sent my stuff in – hooray!

i submitted my application for regular admissions a month ago. after an on campus overnight, i want to switch to Early Decision. However, the deadline was today and even though all my other stuff [interview, teacher recs, transcript, etc] has been sent in by the ED I deadline, i haven’t submitted the ED agreement. will they accept it from me late for ED I, or should i wait and apply ED II?

I would call admissions first thing tomorrow and tell them exactly what you said here and ask what your options are. I hope and think they will let you apply ED1. i know in some cases, like recruited athletes, a coach can get admissions to give a few extra days. Lets hope you can convince them to give you a few days…Good luck

does anyone know if we’re supposed to get some sort of acknowledgement email from wes saying “we’ve got all your stuff, thanks”? or if our weschecks say everything’s in, are we good to go?

Don’t know…my S seems to have had his GC’s envelope with recommendation and transcript lost or misdirected; we’ve now also had the school fax the items and we are still showing the GC rec missing on WesCheck and we really don’t know what to do at this point (we did call office and they said it will still count for making the ED deadline even if the rec gets there late). Very frustrating…the non-ED schools (all were sent out at the same time) all seemed to get the items OK.

I’ve been having a similar problem-- my transcript/school profile were confirmed but the GC rec that came in the same envelope showed up as missing. After waiting two days, I called admissions and they told me that the documents are processed in a specific order and that my rec should appear shortly. I was told to call back if it didn’t show up within two days.

However, it’s been nearly three days since then… I’m going to call and double check soon.

You can go back to your common app page, and click on Wesleyan, then school forms. At the bottom it should indicate when Wesleyan downloaded the forms from your school (that is assuming your forms were sent electronically.) It might not appear in your file - but at least you know the materials are on campus. Hope that helps!

As far as Wesleyan goes, if you have a WES ID, which you must have to apply, it is the number you get when you preregister, you can check the status of you materials at the Wesleyan webpage… Good luck with ED…

WESCHECK

http://www.wesleyan.edu/admission/forms/wescheck.html

Hey! Does anyone know exactly how the online decision notification works? Will a page just pop up on the site on the 15th? There is no WAY i am checking that before i go to school that day…

Runningaway, you have to sign in and check on your status. And by the way, decisions didnt go up last year until 3 pm or something like that, so they didnt detract from the school day. You will get an email with all the info.

I applied, I’m so nervous!

So if WesCheck says all of my materials are in, should I be expecting a confirmation email, or is that confirmation enough?

hey, you won’t be getting a confirmation email. if wescheck says it’s all there, then you’re good to go!

thank! good luck everyone…ahh!

Yessssssssssssssss

The New York Times has just reported that as of November 15, Wesleyan had received 505 Early Decision applications, an increase from last year’s figure of 500 ED applications at the same point. There was no mention as to whether these were ED 1 or ED 2, although as we know, November 15 was the ED 1 deadline.

So the “Little Three”, unlike many other liberal arts colleges, are not experiencing a large spike in the number of ED applications, with Williams experiencing just a 1.3% increase and Amherst actually 5.6% below last year.

Liberal Arts Colleges that have increased their ED applications include:

Barnard 38.53%
Bates 5.81%
Bowdoin 9.78%
Colby 6.14%
Conn 2.81%
Davidson 39.58%
Dickinson 15.38%
Furman 58.77%
Hamilton 24.10%
Haverford 14.22%
Lafayette 56.32%
Middlebury 0.46%
Pomona 0.85%
S. Lawrence 15.07%
Swarthmore 5.13%

I can’t make any sense of these figures in terms of seeing any patterns. But clearly, the Little Three have not yet received a major jump in ED. We will see if ED 2 figures turn out differently.

Good luck, everyone!

Wesleyan got 515, not 505, which is an increase of 3%… if thats worth anything :)

But yes, things have been very inconsistent among LACs…

In order of increase:

Furman +58%
Lafayette +56%
Davidson +39%
Barnard +38%
Bucknell +30%
Hamilton +24%
Dickinson +15%
S. Lawrence +15%
Haverford +14%
Bowdoin +9%
Colby +6%
Bates +5%
Swarthmore +5%
Wesleyan +3%
Conn. College +2%
Williams +1%
Pomona +0.8%

Middlebury +0.4%

Skidmore -3%
Amherst -5%
Depauw -10%
