This is my only wait-list. What is happening with other top school wait-lists?

@Vlessgorian I’m guessing they are starting later this year, or maybe they already have contacted someone who does not post on CC. But thank you and good luck to you as well! And I agree, we should not be too concerned about the outcome, although we are x)

@onglet I only know that MIT closed its wait list.

Stanford had a 73.4% yield, will take ***no one ***from its waitlist and will enroll the largest freshman class in its history.

MIT has GIRs that cover several semesters. So students would make up the required number of classes in each subject with a grade outside of the first semester classes.

[MIT Course Catalog: Undergraduate General Institute Requirements](<a href=“Welcome! < MIT”>Welcome! < MIT)

BubbleGumSword, thank you. I just thought that if other CCers are on the wait-lists elsewhere posting any sort of info, even if it is the same as here, would keep this threat bubbling gently :)

@BubbleGumSword I thinking the same thing (together with worrying hahaha, it’s inevitable) because last year a lot of people posted. Also, on “The Dean’s Letter” it said that they weren’t going to take any actions on the application until mid-May or something like that…

@Onglet, of course my friend, of course! And we can take our minds away from our thoughts ongletting of the wait list for a minute Wow that’s some big yield stanford78! MIT, now Stanford, I hope this doesn’t happen to Yale too. Can any estimates be made? I mean, if many applicants are cross admits between HYPMS, and if M and S yields are very high then…

@Onglet - My D is waitlisted at Brown and Harvard. The waitlist threads are saying Brown is not taking anyone but Harvard says they will take 25.

Good luck with Yale!

I hope Yale contacts people soon.

Didn’t they start 5/9 last year?
Does this lack of contacting people yet (at least CCers) mean Yale has a high yield… like MIT and Stanford and Harvard?
I guess it wouldn’t be impossible, but it’s suprising that so many of HYPSM have such high yields this year. Where are the cross-admits?

[Harvard Yield for Class of 2016 Soars to 81% | News | The Harvard Crimson](Harvard Yield for Class of 2016 Soars to 81% | News | The Harvard Crimson)

What do you the high yield of other Ivy schools suggest about Yale’s yield? Higher, possibly? That is definitely bad news for us waitlistees

^^^ Donno that you can conclude that. While in the end you may be right, what if mathematically a large number of those that took Harvard or Stanford (who also had a record Yield this year) were also offered admissions at Yale?

I’m not sure about Stanford but the fact the Harvard re-opens its early action program this year would make the number of cross admits choosing Harvard over Yale go down. I think it’s a good assumption that yield this year would definitely go up and very few would make it out of the cursed waitlist this year.

Caltech also closed the WL without taking anyone. Dartmouth started calling people.

@HippyHoo, Both Stanford and Harvard are SCEA which doesn’t preclude a student from applying to other schools during the regular deadline.

@onglet, Dartmouth’s Yield is slightly less than 50% and it makes sense they have gone to their Wait list.

I’m assuming none of us has been contacted yet, am I right?

@cahsparent, Dartmouth also had a pretty unflattering article published recently, so it’s understandable that they’re moving the WL. My aim is to try to gather the news/developments/rumours of the peer group WLs so we can make our assumptions and guesses and, more importantly, in the process divert ourselves a little while waiting for those phone calls. Anyway, I’ve always been an information junkie. :)

@Vlessgorian I guess not, but i’m not sure whether that’s a good sign or not…

On another matter, here are some colleges whose yield is already known:
Harvard: 81%—> 25 accepted off the wait list
Stanford: 73.4% —> 0 accepted off the wait list
MIT: 70%-----> 0 accepted off the wait list
Dartmouth:49.6%

Harvard, Stanford and MIT yield went up.

Does Yale usually announce its yield much later than the other schools? I know last year it was released in June

Should we get a pool going before the announcement? My entry–71.5%
