Oh boy...

I'm in deep here. I'm applying to University of Illinois(UIUC) and my ACT score is extremely low. I recieved a 19...yay. Since the university is huge and they rely on numbers, does writing an essay help my chances? Does choosing undecided in my major help? If I have any chances it'll take a miracle.

blue147,

I think actually applying undecided would be a hinderance. I think they would look at you and say, "This one doesn't know what he wants..." and that might turn them off a little. That is just my feeling. So, I would say pick a major, but know you can always change it. They just want an idea of where you want to go.

unless ur doing engineering u should be fine for UIUC...i mean i dunno about ur other stats but its really easy to get into UIUC unless ur applying to their engineering school....then it gets ugly

I'm deciding between psychology and international studies. If I wanted to do engineering then I would've been out of my mind.

then u shud be fine

Does appyling for early action help my chances?

yup....shows interest and colleges like that

What I'm really scared of is that UIUC makes there decision soley on class rank and ACT/SAT scores. My class rank is 45/160. Should I even apply to UIUC? Would my first semester grades my senior yr help?

if ur not doing engineering then getting into UIUC is a joke so stop worrying

dude UIUC,, you can get in easily

thanks for your responses
