Oh lord.. what do I do?

Alright, so I work for a family-owned Chinese restaurant. One of the aunts has a relative back in China who is looking to come to US for boarding school.

I have no idea which boarding schools are any good, as I went to a ****ty public in a no-name town.

So could you give me some names of prep schools that send many students on to top tier (they want Ivys) schools?

Thanks... I'm so clueless.

I would recommend Choate… (www.choate.edu) They have recently begun upping their amount of recruitment/yield in China, according to a news post in the school newspaper about admissions. I’m also going there next year, and if you or your relative wants to get in touch with me, let me know in a PM with their email address and I’d be happy to answer any questions.

A few more amazing schools are Exeter, Andover, Deerfield, SPS. These are off the top of my head, too.
Blair, Peddie, Mercersburg, you name it.
Another good bet you can make is to check out boardingschoolreview.com, where you can input your criteria and find schools based on that.

If college enrollment is the only criterion (but do know that whichever school he/she goes to, there’s no garantee he/she will be in a ivy in 4 years), then top choices are (in alphabetical order): Andover, Choate, Deerfield, Exeter, Groton, Hotchkiss, Lawrenceville, Middlesex, Milton, Noble and Greenough, SPS, St. Alban’s.

What is SPS?

Saint Paul’s School.

If you’re interested in school’s Ivy matriculation, I recommend you search for that in CC’s search function–limit it to the prep school forum.

Here’s the Wall Street Journal’s opinion, from '07: a sortable chart: [WSJ.com.
The accompanying article: How to Get Into Harvard - WSJ.com](WSJ.com)

In addition, if you’re interested, you can spend the entire summer searching old posts on this forum. If your cousin will apply from China, though, I recommend that your aunt find a reputable educational consultant, who specializes in Chinese applicants: [Educational Consultants - IECAonline.com | Home](http://www.educationalconsulting.org/).

This information from Prepreview has been posted a few times. It looks like the information should be updated, but it’s better than nothing.

I think an Educational Consultant who specializes in boarding schools would be helpful. Boarding school admission is similar to college admission in that great SSAT, high grades and good recommendations do not guarantee admission.

I heard that if you go to Exeter it’s like going to china

LOL…Meaning what? Many students from China? Only 12% of student body are international students and they can’t all be Chinese. If you include Chinese Americans, there could be more. So what?

It has 39% diversity
with 25% asian
6% african american
6% hispanic
and 2% other

So your statement should be modifed as: I heard that if you go to Exeter it’s like going to ASIA (China, Korea, India… you name it) - 25% of the time. ;)

I recommend St. Pauls school ([Please wait…](http://www.sps.edu)) , check it out. Beatiful campus, not to big not to small, great person attention, great college matriculation.

That’s where I will be attending, but I also applied to Andover Deerfield and Exeter. They were all amazing in their own right…I recommend looking at those schools either. They’re all the top.
