Oh man I'm really scared

So, I'm really scared about my admissions to ANY University. My problem is I'm a Bio major and took my chem prereq series at UCLA extension which has a series called the 14 series. The 14 series condenses General Chem into 2 lecture quarters and 1 lab quarter, and condenses organic chem into 2 lecture quarters and 1 lab qauarter. 14A/14B/14BL is general chem, and 14
C/14D/14CL is Organic Chem. I took this series at UCLA extension because I was unable to get into any chemistry class at any college around me, it was really frustrating. Anyways, my issue is I don't believe the series transfers over to completely satisfy the prereq. My friend who also took the same series as me had his tag rejected from Davis and they said it's because he's missing the 3rd quarter of general Chem. (We both took 14A/14B/14C and will be taking 14BL during summer because that's the only time its offered to extension students). He also was rejected from UCSB yesterday and had a 3.55 gpa + tag, igetc, good ec's etc. I have a 3.89 gpa but am also afraid that neither of us will get into a university because our chem series won't satisfy the prereq requirement and Biology is impacted everywhere. sighh.

BTW I applied to UCSD/UCSB/UCLA/UCB and have tag and tap to all

The TAG doesn’t apply to impacted majors?

well I tagged, but I think major prerewq is a requirement for tag and I don’t know if they accept my chem series as such. meaning my tag may be denied.

Nabil, I think you were in my Bio class during Fall 2010.

P.S. Major prereqs are not required for TAG at UCSD.

Hmm really? is that just for ucsd or the other uc’s too? and really?? professor williams?

Yeah, Prof. Williams. I remember your name because it’s the masculine form of Nabila (my cousin’s name) - I think we had a conversation about that, actually. Anyway, I don’t know about other UCs. I don’t think it matters for SB either (don’t they have a Pre-Bio major that you’re put into until you fulfill all major requirements?) - but I’m sure about UCSD. They admit you to the school first, and then put you in whatever major you applied to.

Also, that class was fun. I think she gave out a fair amount of As. I’m taking Bio 7 with Green-Marroquin this quarter, and it’s literally so much easier than Byrd’s class.

I took correspondence courses from the U.C. Berkeley extension many years ago when I was stationed overseas and I do not know if it applies to all UC Extension programs or just Berkeley but my recollection is that if the course number is preceded by an X it is the exact same course as given on the UC Berkeley campus. For example one of the courses I took was X-Math 1 which meant it was the same course as Calculus 1 on the Berkeley campus and I would get credit for Calculus 1 if I ever enrolled at UC Berkeley. If the course did not have an X in its title it meant that it was a special course only offered through the UC Berkeley extension and was not equivalent to any course given on the UC Berkeley campus and therefore generally not applicable towards a degree at Berkeley.
