I got below a 3.0 this semester = = omg... 2.5 unweighted.. = = If i somehow do get accepted into UCLA, will i get rescinded..??

my weighted is like 3.16... am i still good for all the other UC's besides LA and Berk?? I know Berk im out of contention..

most likely you're out of the running

but you should definitely email your schools about it.

ps are you chinese?

if it's consistent with what you had for your soph and junior years, it won't change things much. but if it went from like a 4.0 to that, then it could probably affect you negatively.

yea.. im taiwanese lol :)

I believe UC eligibility is 3.0 GPA-wise.

well sophmore my gpa was like 3.7 unweighted.. and junior was like 3.5 unweighted..
I read somewhere that said you need 3.0 unweighted overall for senior year or else you'll get admission rescinded.. is that a rumor or legit? at least for UCLA..

yeah im pretty sure you need to keep above 3.0 but if you can pull a 3.5 on 2nd semester you should be fine...

Let me be honest with you. You don't have a chance anymore. Don't get your hopes up.

Start planning on a transfer if you really want to come to UCLA, or go to Berkeley.

i should e-mail them -.-

yea you should; i think they'll excuse it as long as you don't have any D's and show improvement next quarter. but again, i have no idea what will happen

good luck

UCLA: Rescinded without a compelling excuse

Well first of all, you haven't gotten in yet. Senior grades don't have an influence on that. So don't start stressing too hard, because, I mean, you might just get rejected outright.

Second of all, anyone proclaiming that you'll get rejected outright is moronic. Last time I checked, everyone here is going off hearsay and rumor. "Dude, I totally know a guy who's a friend of one of my friend's brother who got deferred from Berkeley because his grades were below a 3.0 I'm pretty sure it happens to everyone." I mean, does anyone here work for admissions? If the answer is no, you probably don't know anything with such authority. I know "friends of a brother's friend" who got with below a 3.0, and "sister's best friend's cousin" who got deferred. But that really doesn't mean anything.

Here's the bottom line. If you don't get above a 3.0 UW for both semesters of senior year, something happens -- it's just that no one really knows what. Some people say you get deferred or rejected immediately, some say it doesn't mean anything, some say you get put on academic probation for your first couple quarters at UCLA. I've heard all three said at one time or another. If I were you, I wouldn't listen to anyone.

By far your best bet is to contact the admissions immediately, preferably by both email and phone. Find out as much as you can. In my mind, your chances for admission (assuming you get in, that is) are much higher if you do this now rather than wait later.

Its a 3.0 overall unweighted senior year grade >_>;; I had to deal with that crap last year so I have a bunch of emails I corresponded with the admissions officer with if you're really that OCD about it.

UCLA had 70,328 applications this year. I think we all need to consider that admissions may be even more competitive than last year.

SignOnSanDiego.com > News > State -- Applications soar at University of California campuses

yeah daily bruin had an article about that too... so right now your best bet is to pull up your GPA next semester... just get good grades, if you think you can get into UCLA then you should be able to get good grades :)

but you should email them either way.

70k applicants? i thought it was like 50-55k just 2 years ago when i applied. hah. good luck to you kids.

It was like 57K freshman applications and 14K transfers. Typically UCLA admits ~12K for freshman and whatever 30ish% of transfers is, so freshman admission could go to 20% this year. Is glad that college admissions process is over

***, 70k? I have the Daily Bruin right here, and it says 55,369 freshman applied. 14,991 transfers applied.

Just call admissions (prepare for a 10 minute wait). They're your best source of info. Sometimes, this is a fault that CC has: people come onto here asking administrative questions that would be best answered by UCLA staff themselves, and answers are given that may or may not be based on fact. Some answers are even pretty disparaging (read: Fisico).
