Excited to say my son also received OOS Buckeye scholarship -$13,500 yearly. I’m guessing this is somewhat commonly granted?

Congratulations to your son! I don’t know if it’s commonly granted but it definitely helped make OSU affordable for my older student and keeps OSU in contention for my DS23.

DS received OOS buckeye scholarship as well, very thankful! With respect to housing, when do kids need to sign up or put down deposit? Is housing allotted based on date stamp of when the deposit is paid? We have no clue on housing situation, so any guidance is greatly appreciated. TIA

Is a scholarship more likely with students who are offered the honors program? My OOS kid (accepted in December) was offered the honors program about a month ago, but has heard nothing about merit aid/any scholarship. We thought the honors program acceptance may make a scholarship more likely. But I don’t know how the two correlate if at all or how selective the honors program even is.

Any thoughts on any of that? For those who have been offered a scholarship did your kid also get into the honors program? Coming from OOS, the $$$ is a factor.

My OOS kid (also accepted in Dec) was offered $16.5K in merit, but has not been offered honors. I am not sure what the decision process is for each, but I would guess they are separate processes. It seems that way at other schools as well.

Congratulations. Is that amount per year? What’s the name of scholarship?

He received the National Buckeye (13.5K) and Maximus (3K). Yes, per year.

S23 was an OOS scholarship recipient from December. Interest in Honors was a common app question. Lazy son selected ‘no’.

My Jan admit received the Buckeye yesterday and so did two of her December admit friends as well.

That is amazing. Our OOS applicant submitted their RD app on November 12th, missing the scholarship deadlines :persevere: oh well…. Very happy to have been admitted in February.

Thank you for the link, very helpful.

Have you received the scholarship info by regular mail or e-mail?

Thanks for sharing the housing info! My son was accepted January and is 90% sure that he going to OSU. He waiting on one more school, which is his number one. Acceptances for that school come out by the end of March. So he is in a bit if a holding pattern.

Is anyone else in this position and how have others handled housing since hiusing at OSU is first in, first served? Reading through the housing info doesn’t address this. I assume he is obligated only after he signs the housing contract?

That’s our understanding, too. Our applicant can’t really make any housing decisions until all college decisions are known. For us as I am sure many, some schools aren’t notifying until end of March/Early April. We just have to wait.

Best of luck and well wishes as the wait continues!

You too! This is my last one to go through the college process. So, a bit bittersweet but praying they end where they are happy and excited to be.

Could someone please share their kid’s experience at OSU in Computer Science Engineering? Was it hard to get into the major of choice and any tips for incoming students? Would be really helpful to hear their experience on the strength of the program, specialization tracks, and research/internship opportunities. TIA.
