Yes, that helps. So is Southwestern the closest to Austin? My daughter thinks Trinity might be too small relative to her high school, so I am sure she would think Austin and Southwestern are too small. Thanks!

thanks tfermom. Good to know about the focus on the essay. I have to believe their ACT results will be quite improved over the first time. D who got an A in ap bio and a 4 on the AP bio test had a science score in the teens the first go around because she wasn't prepared to approach it as a reading test instead of a science test. Once she figured out that there was no background knowledge required she should have improved that one by several points.

fingers crossed for any and all of you still waiting for test scores!

Did anybody wonder what that squealing sound off in the distance was last night? That was my D and me jumping up and down! We got the Congratulations email from Trinity last night re her ED application. We'll get the official letter in the mail soon apparently. I haven't felt this happy in so long I can't remember. The kids in our district have the whole week off next week, so what a perfect way to start it off! I'm rooting for the rest of you waiting as well.
[note: my husband is very happy too, he's just not a squealer ;-)]

Wow, congratulations bblfraser!

That is great that you found out so early! -- the promised response date was Dec. 1, was it not?

Thanks. Yes, Dec 1 was the date. D and I picked the wording apart: they said "by" Dec 1 not "on". So we hoped that meant it might be sooner. I also thought that since Dec 1 this year is on a Monday after T'giving, perhaps the admissions crew would be motivated to salvage a bit of their holidays by taking care of at least some of the ED pile before then. So we were planning to hover by the mailbox and check email relentlessly Mon - Wed. Mind you, we were already pretty diligent about the email for the past week already. It's been so fun to finally have the news to share. And when we go around the table Thursday saying what we're thankful for, we'll have something special to speak to.

My d and I recently visited a college that she would very much like to attend.

I was so happy to see her engaged by a school....it is so wonderful to see them excited about their future -- one of the highlights of parenthood, in my opinion.

bblfraser this is great news! I saw you on the acceptance thread this morning and am so happy for your D and you too of course. fendrock agree that this is a highlight! Whooooo Hoooo!

Wow, bblfraser! Happy, happy, happy for you.

Trinity is high on D's list - as in tippy-top high. I admit to a double-edged jealousy: your D knows and she is done.

Like you, I've never heard any negative remarks about Trinity. I ask and I wait - I mean someone is bound to know someone who knows someone who doesn't like it. But no - all positive remarks so far.

Thanks, ignatius. I hope your D will hear soon. As much as I had reservations about ED (putting your eggs in one basket, not visiting more schools, not seeing what kind of merit aid someone else might offer), I have to admit that she and I have a real impatient streak and love just being DONE. We really pushed her to look in other parts of the country (which she did grudgingly) just to be sure she was really informed. But now that this is settled, I love the fact that she'll only be a few hours away. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you guys still!

thanks for the crossed fingers bblfraser! ignatius I do believe that app will be done this week for us. Will be keeping you and yours in mind and seriously if we all end up with a child at TU we have to meet up :)

Glad to find this thread. If they've notified the ED's, hopefully the EAs won't be far behind. We've received virtually no mail from Trinity (unlike other schools that seem to send us something every day.) Sounds like lots of us are looking at the same schools. Son has been admitted to St. Edwards, Stephen F. Austin, Baylor, Oklahoma City University and University of Tulsa. Waiting to hear from Trinity, Southwestern and Austin College.

oh missypie another for our 09 thread meet up in San Antonio...knock wood ;). Mine just applied EA earlier this week so we don't expect to hear until maybe January but we will be keeping all fingers toes and eyes crossed for your S. Congrats on his acceptances but my bias is here with Trinity ;) So hope he get in here too.

yeah glad to see this kind of thread. first congratulations bblfraser and your D!
I'm an international student applying EA. The notification deadline is February 1 but do anyone know when Trinity U usually released the results? how about last year?
Anyone (other than bblfraser's D) have Trinity as the first choice?

I just checked out earlier threads -- some EA applicants last year found out the second week of December!

Missypie, you're racking up quite a wonderful list of acceptances! I'm hoping you'll be adding Trinity to the list soon -- sounds like your son is a strong contender.

Batdoi, thanks for the congrats. Best of luck to you as well.

Yeah! I'm glad to see the interest in TU. My D is finishing her third semester, and I'm happy to let you know she had no sophomore slump, loves it there as much as last year. So busy with all the on-campus things to do, and SA is a great city. I love visiting. Good luck to those still waiting, congrats to those already in.

If I can answer ?, I will.

gloworm

Thanks gloworm... ;) So glad to hear that your D is as happy as ever at TU. The fact that I have never heard a student or parent with a negative comment is incredible is incredibly telling re. TU's quality as a college and a community. Yeah for Trinity!

Congrats, bblfraser!

We haven't visited yet, but if it's similar to Austin College and SW'ern, I'm sure he'll love it.

Thanks, youdon'tsay. Shhh -- I went online to the Trinity bookstore last night and ordered a sweatshirt for her for Christmas. I'm so excited to have this official!

We're visiting on Tuesday. DS applied EA. Any suggestions or tips as what we should do or see at the school? We're pretty familiar with SA-- already planning our visit to Mi Tierra. We can't go to SA without getting our fix of Mexican food and buying some leche quemada to take home.
