So I've emailed a couple of people asking to sublet their apartments.

I found their listings through Uloop and Facebook Marketplace.

So I have a few questions. I'll call the subletting person "A1". So if A1 wants to sublet his apartment, and several people e-mail him, then how does A1 usually decide how to sublet his apartment? Is the arrangement usually 1st-come 1st-serve or does A1 start an auction or is the norm some other arrangement? I realize that there are many different arrangements, but I'd just like to know which ones are more likely than others. It might be possible that A1 might prefer some subletters than others too (how often does this happen?)

And then how should I approach A1? Is there any awkwardedness involved if a male wants to sublet a female's room?

Is the economics usually different for the cheapest apartments as opposed to the more expensive ones? ($450-500 per month is the cheapest in my area).

==
Is it common for A1 to turn people down? Or for people to turn A1 down? How often does this happen? Admittedly I'm trying to look for all sorts of apartments so I'm e-mailing multiple people, but there's the possibility that I might find a better deal before summer and I wonder if it would be too rude to tell the subletter that I'm also looking at other arrangements?
