Agreed. Most of the people who took the exam with me thought it was really difficult. CC is never really a good sampling as far as figuring out curves – the majority of people here do considerably better than average.

What is the point of a three? I don’t believe you can get credit at most schools.

I don’t really care about the credit. I’m just happy to get a 3. The majority of the graduates at my school scored 1’s and 2’s. Barely anyone has ever gotten a 3 (or even a 4). No one has ever gotten a 5. English is my worst subject anyways.

I see; good for you, then.

Does anyone know how scoring works? I know there are 55 MC’s and each essay has a maximum score of 9, but MC is worth 45% and essays are worth 55%, how does that work out? Anyone know?

And anyone know approximately how well I have to do to score a 4?

The essay portion could not have been any any any easier. Very straightforward and an easy open prompt (Lord of the Flies, anyone?)
MC got a lot harder for me towards the end. I hate Shakespeare-like poems…

Meh, using Lord of the Flies might lower your score a bit for this, with such an easy prompt choosing such a simple book might look worse than usual. You could do this for pretty much any book ever written.

Damn, I should have chosen fences then.

yeah…i thought the mc was good…but the 1st frq…i didn’t like…and the 2nd was okay.the 3rd one was good…

Test was way easier than I expected. Thank God! I grinned when I opened the MC and saw the title of the first poem. I had read that same poem not two weeks ago and I was like, “OMG! YES!!!” Put me in a good mood the rest of the test. :D

I used Waiting for Godot for the open question. What did everyone else use?

I went with the Iliad. Ahahaha.

My English teacher told me that 9th/10th grade books like Lord of the Flies are looked down upon by the graders due to their lack of complexity (the books).

You can probably still get a good score if your essay is exceptional, though.

I thought the MC was actually pretty easy. The practice tests that we did in class were A LOT harder. I’m just glad its over with. Now the wait for scores! lol

that sucks lol. I definitely read lord of the flies this year. An AP essay guide composed by AP English Lit readers said to try to avoid Heart of Darkness and Hamlet because they’re the most used novels on the open prompt. I hope my score doesn’t suck regardless. I thought the MC was pretty difficult towards the end. I hated the MC about the crow and loved the one about the fast-food joint

mc was kinda easy-medium difficutly…i skipped 5 or so…dint get to finish because i was hung over on one of them…o well

i beasted on the essays. wrote like 3 pages for each and with 5 minutes to spare too

btw i did heart of darkness for the 3rd one (which ironically i completed first lol) since i had just written an essay on it, not on thta particular topic they gave us, but i incorporated what i wrote about int he past essay on today’s essay…did it in like 20 minutes, lol

What? I used Heart of Darkness, not sure why the frequency of usage should affect the score 0.o The second essay though, I thought was difficult, but I searched up the sypnosis of the book online and found my thesis pretty consistent witht the book’s theme.

btw, anyone know what you should score on the MC and essays to get atleast a 4?

Yea my essays were good too. I wrote 3 pgs for two and 6 for one of them. I had about 20 minutes to spare.

@ hipster.
don’t worry about it. it shouldn’t affect your score; i was just going on a tangent
