OMG! I got a sweet internship.

Hey!
So I want to get an internship so I dragged myself to a computer and wrote a 2 page long heartfelt letter. I want a business internship and there is a really good public univesity next door so I just went their business school's website and send the letter to everyone on that faculty list.

There were about 50~60 faculty names on there(I emailed everyone on there, adjunct professors, part-time speaker, etc)......

So I waited a day or two before checking my email again. Then I was surprised wildly.

About all the full-time professors replied, most of them said no, but they actually took time and wrote me a very long and kind response. But a few of them said YES sure!!

So I went to interview with a few them. I have school until 4 everyday so some of the internships just would not work with schedule but I settle of a very good research internship doing marketing and organizational behavoir type of work.

And it is PAID TOO. I started 2 weeks ago and it is AWESOME, I learned more about business in the last 2 weeks than I did in in my whole life.
I will work on one project until july, the first two months is free but I will get paid as a regular university research staff the last two months.

And I also get recommended for a summer job at a local business, I am having the interview in a couple of weeks too.

So the lesson of this story is that just email and be heart felt and candid and something good will definitely come out of it.

I just tried and gambled and I got something amazing in return.

:)

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

business intern? what are you going to do?

well, right now, we are doing a project about spendings and ethicity; business leakage...

So we gather datas and write conjectures on why some spending is higher than the other.

I go to the professor's office once a week go over my findings and we talk for about 2 hours. I do it mostly on Thursday since I cannt make any other time. We also correspond through emails and the project mangear give me assignments once a week...

:)

cool...what university? I should try that at a university near me..(ut-arlington) :)

OH SWEET! High-Five!

Hey, I got an internship, too! It's at a medical center near a prestigious private university, but it's unpaid. I still don't know whether I'm going to participate yet though, but there's a spot reserved for me already. =)

I did the whole e-mail thing too. That's my #1 advice to anyone who is interested in getting an internship. State your name, grade, high school, and your purpose for interning. Make it concise and sincere. Good luck!

and oh always be extra polite, that helps a lot IMO.

B_B, there is a saying that "nothing beats a failure like a try."

Congratulations on demonstrating the initiative that someone interested in business (in particular) should! It's also smart that you did this in Feb./March instead of waiting until May/June.

Keep us posted about your internship experience...

nice! It's so hard getting internships in high school...I have an internship at the Red Cross, and it is quite dull

SWEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS..................now why are you telling us this?

So we can learn and do the same.
