OMG i'm in:) likely letter!!

THINK ABOUT IT^!!!. … Come on…Why would deferees get likelies?? do you know what a likely is? If you were good enough to get a likely, they wouldn’t have deferred you.

Also got a LL! (Very excited). Congrats to everyone else that has received one. =)

Everyone should say whether they are doing SEAS or CC.

I attended Rutgers University and I could not afford my textbooks because the financial aid was not enough for me to cover all of the fees, so my grades suffered. I finished with 12 credits and a 2.5 GPA. I then went the United States Marine Corps. I am now at a community college and I am taking 12 credits and I believe that I will be finishing with 12 credits and a 4.0 GPA leaving me at a 3.25 GPA and 24 credits. I also have my own business that is booming. Do you think that I have a chance of getting into Columbia GS? Also, what is the work load like at Columbia GS? Despite only having a 2.5 GPA at Rutgers University it was a cake walk. If I had my text books and had no financial distractions, I would have been in the 3.0 to 4.0 GPA range. I made the honor roll times five times and I had a 3.75 GPA during one semester of my Junior year at a top 20 New Jersey public high school (100% graduation rate). I am sending in my application in Spring 2010 with my grades from my community college in May 2010. The deadlines is June 2010. Do you think I have a chance of getting into Columbia GS in the Fall semester 2010? ANY RESPONSE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Congrats Pigs! I got one too :D

I got a likely for SEAS.

But does a likely really mean your in? Im still fairly skeptical…

YES IT DOES (caps for emphasis)

99.9% chance. Unless you screw up majorly during your fall semester (or first trimester/quarter), or kill someone. Otherwise, you’re in.

Just want to confirm that Daughter received likely for CC this week. NOT SEAS, NOT athlete, NOT anything except CC. Caucasian, public school (sci/tech), applied RD, stated Russian as primary focus, and applied to Columbia primarily for the BA/MA five year program which gives her 3 yrs in NYC then 2 yrs at Science PO in Paris. Ends up with a BA from CC and La Diplome from Science Po. Yes, she’s a language collector, French, Russian, German (Congress-Bundestag Scholar to Germany, 10th grade). Curious to pick up Arabic/Farsi/Hindi at college. Other broad interests, like English Lit, Organic Chem, Stat, kind of the all-around type, etc. Writes VERY well and had spectacular teacher letters and a good interview with an alum just two weeks ago. Stats smack in the middle of Columbia’s average, not low end…not high end except the 800 W.

Hope that answers some questions. We are very new to this kind of forum so forgive me if my etiquette is lacking, not intended to offend anyone.

What region?

Maryland, close-in DC suburb

gosh… i’m so jealous… i wish i had one
hmmmmm

Congrats to your daughter, justsayin! Her likely letter is well-deserved :)

Congratulations everyone! I hope to see some of your faces next year and maybe on campus visits!!! M:heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::DD

i got a likely letter. does it mean we’re definitely in unless we do spectacularly badly on interviews/midyear reports?
