I received a likely letter from Columbia College yesterday, and I have just been ebullient.

@lizzy2009: I’m a permanent resident from the Caribbean too. ^_^

I got mine from Columbia College this morning @ 3 a.m. (well, that’s when I checked my email). And to think I had been planning to visit the campus today–it must have been fate.

Cool im jamaican. What about you?

Just got a likely letter (email) today! (for SEAS) - from Illinois

I got one too! For the engineering college! I was really surprised. So…how sure is this? I mean, they said to EXPECT to hear good news, but I’m having trouble believing it haha

Woot, likely letter for Columbia SEAS!!!

hey, i was wondering if those of u lucky ducks who got likelies could kindly post ur stats (gpa, sat, ecs) so us less fortunate ppl can get an idea of how awesome one has to be to get a likely letter…

Yeah, I’m from the US.

Does anyone know if the likely letter is as good as an acceptance? Should I be freaking out as if I just got admitted?

^Yeah, I think you have good reason to. Basically, as long as you don’t fail your classes, you’re in. :D

Definitely won’t fail anything. This is beyond exciting!!

In my humble opinion, I did not think I was demi-godlike in any way. In a nutshell:

Likely to Columbia College
GPA: 4.0/4.0
Rank: 1/390+
SAT I: 2320 (720 CR)
SAT II: 800 Math II, 720 Chemistry, 720 Japanese
APs: 5 Calculus BC (Freshman), 5 Statistics (Freshman), 5 Chemistry (Sophomore), 4 U.S. History (Sophomore)

Perhaps what sets me apart is that I am graduating HS one year early, quite fluent in four languages, and have taken around 6 mathematics college courses (up to functional analysis), most notably at Harvard Extension. Founding a few clubs and actively engaging others helped, I dare say.
