I applied for econ major so it’s in CC.

Does anyone know the quota for the econ majors at Columbia?

Does anyone know the quota for the econ majors at Columbia?

Hahaha, I’m sure it was the last one that did it xP

Speaking of optional pictures, maybe it’s good I didn’t send mine? I had an elitist-looking professional one I was going to send, but then I had second thoughts… :)

anyone else terribly excited by the CUArts email? Though in all practicality I don’t think museum visits will be nearly as important as all the studying and work.

even though I really wish they didn’t use the word “likely” though ~ it’s going to keep me a tad nervous until final decisions.
And I’m still nervous for everyone else as well - my friend just got into Babson (her first acceptance), the wait is really bad. :(

Aw, shucks. It’s not that bad. Go on mangafox.com and amuse yourself.
And the CUArts email was just like, “seriously, guys?” I think the admissions officers are just as bored as we are if they have the time to compile something like that. :)

well it’s not as bad for me - i’m just empathizing with all those who are still waiting. I know from being deferred SCEA at Yale how annoying it can be.

and manga… that’s slightly random. i’ve only ever finished one series in my life - “death note” and I think the anime’s changed ending killed it.

and truth be told, I didn’t even read the whole CUArts email till later. Too many words! I just saw the big blue picture and read the first sentence initially and assumed it was something interesting. :)

^Second to sleeping, manga reading takes up most of my time. I couldn’t bring myself to watch the Death Note anime–I heard too many bad things and couldn’t stand to have my otaku heart shattered.

The email gave a few links. At least Columbia likes to provide us with time-wasters. :D

^and then they expect us to keep up our grades. oh the paradoxes of life :)

i have a question for everyone here…columbia’s site says that they will notify applicants of their decision on or before april 1st. is the “before” like a week before, or usually just one or two days?

im so nervous haha :P

The likely says admissions packets are mailed on March 31st, so I’m guessing the “before” is a day before :)

ugh there is a quota on econ majors? I was debating to declare either econ or polisci, but both are popular im guessing

I declared polisci and economics, so I’m not sure if there is a quota. But is that a common practice? Making quotas for certain majors and all? I’m not sure if that would make sense, given that a lot of students switch/don’t know what they want to do when they first enter the school.

I think there is always a quota even though school officials want us to believe otherwise. Imagine what happens if everyone wants to study econ. Though it’s true that it’s easy to change major at college, the possibility of switching out and switching into econ is the same so the school wants to allocate spaces properly when admitting freshmen.

I really like econ as well as science/engineering. If I am admitted to cc, I probably will do a dual. I realized the quota issue towards the end of my application but I weighed against changing the theme of my application. So I was taking some risks.

I put a caption on my picture though. I thought it was funny but maybe it didn’t come across that way. Either way I still looked good, but I’m worried.

^haha well im sure they admired your humility

Good Job. Congrats!

actually, there was no humility. this is what i said:

My senior portrait! Sorry about the proof preview water mark. The real pictures still have not arrived, so this will have to do. My friends call it the Mona Lisa. Enjoy!

I think you’re just fine. Shows some personality – a mild plus at worst.

Was the CUArts email sent to everyone or just those who got a likely?

I know, I was being sarcastic

Whats going to make my final decision more difficult- I was just accepted at MIT.
