I just took a practice SAT from CollegeBoard's BlueBook and i improved my CR by 120 points, raising it to a 670!!! OMG I AM SO HAPPY. For the past 9 practice tests, i scored, literally, all 540's and 550s. On this test, something just clicked and the test was so much easier, i really cant explain it. Now my total score is 2170 and i am SO HAPPY!

Sorry guys for the random post, BUT I AM SO HAPPY and i just wanted to say it out loud! YES!!! Now i only need to get it up to 700-750 if i can, i am SO happy right now though. !!!!!!!!!

Good look to those who plan on improving on the sats. My first score was a 1400, and now its at 2170, and i never though i would improve this much. I hope i keep improving on the CR atleast, maybe even on math/writing to get a nice 2250. Hehe!!!

Hopeful, i do not review explanations or omit anything. For the math section, i compete to get a 800 lol. I range from 700-770, tho im pretty sure i can get an 800 if i stop making these stupid mistakes! GRR

Um… i’m not the person to ask really lol, my math just went up and up the more times i took it. I didn’t look how or why i got things wrong, i am good at math in school so it just naturally came to me lol sorry. I don’t think looking at Math problem explanations really helps because lets face it, what are the chances of the same math question appearing again? Its unlikely, so you would be wasting ur time. However, if its a type of problem that u always get wrong or don’t get and u run into often, look it up lol

Yeah, i improved on everything. My Math score at first was 650, now its at 750 average and all i did was keep doing it. If i cant get 800 ill try to study somehow :/

What happens when you finish all the test prep in the blue book and you want to further improve your score… where can people go next after that?

I mean there’s nothing much you can do except try out some problems from Barrons or Princeton Review if you have them too.

Honestly, if you’ve exhausted every practice test in the Blue Book and you still haven’t improved, there’s not much to say except… you’ve hit your limit? I mean the SAT was made to be a Reasoning test, there’s no point if it can be completely studied for… sure, you can definitely improve your score by doing a few practice tests, learning some tips, and taking the test more than once, but after a certain point you have to realize that your score won’t go any higher.

In that case, i would just see a math teacher and do problems with him/her.
If funny that u say those books, because i went through pretty much EVERY single book, literally, lol. the best by far is Mcgraw’s because i read 10 pages and i increased my CR by 120 points somehow >_>

Alihaq - i agree with you - only to a certain point though.
When i first took my sats, i scored a 1450. After taking it 3 more times, my score was a 1750. I get all A’s in school, but people keep telling me something along the lines of “the SAT’s test how you reason, not how school smart you are” and “after 3 tests, you won’t improve your score by that much” and etc. All of these things made me believe that i’m not good ivy material and such things like that. At one point, i even had thoughts of just quitting and going to a local University since i am well qualified with my high GPA.

But something, inside me, since i’ve always liked a challenge, told me to keep practicing.
So, i improved from a 1400 to now a 2150 ish, and if i can keep improving my sat score by 50 points ill be in the 2200 range, enough for ivies.

So in conclusion, what you say its true, but only to a certain extent. I wish people wouldn’t say things like that because it really does make other people lose confidence.

I just want to say - theres always room for improvement.

^ I’ve only scored a 1450 on my first SAT. Then a 1520 on the second one. Now third time, I don’t get my score back until February 11, but I think I got like a 1630-1730 this time. Do you think my kind of improvement might be similar to all of yours? :(

^ I have not taken an official SAT, but i have taken official practice SAT tests.
this is how my scores went:
1450
1540
1630
1770
1750
1820
1960
2050
2170

The first three improvements - i literally did nothing but take again. After, i began reading a lot of guide books and i consistently improved my math/writing. On this test, i finally, finally!!! improved my CR by 120 points, giving me a 2170.
If you practice, you can always improve. I am proof of it. I cannot say by how much, but if you really want it, and you really put your time into it, you will improve.

As of now, i have about 4 weeks left to keep practicing for the march sat’s
