Anyone with significant SAT retake improvements...post here!! Also, state any study plans you had while preparing for the retake. Post which books you used if possible.

I need some encouragement as I only got a 2060 the first time in May (660CR 670M 730W) and I'll be retaking it in October and I'm aiming for around a 200 points increase!

i don't know if my results are really applicable to your request since they're in a different range, but here are mine:

March SAT:
570 CR
550 Math
620 Writing

June SAT:
620 CR
710 Math
720 Writing

all i did other than school work was take 8 practice tests, 5 from blue book and 3 from collegeboard's online course.

if you're interested, i plan on doing some of each of barron's 2400, princeton review, blue book, and cb online course through september to get 2200+ on the october test.

Thanks aldeswari, that helps a lot. It makes me believe that going up so much is possible! I really admire the amount you went up with the Math section!

^^ It depends on which schools you want to apply to. taking the SATs three times is okay. If you think you definitely can get CR up, then take it.

Get the blue book, it's actually amazing...my score went from a 2140 to 2300 just by doing tests in that (and a couple in the princeton book). THE BLUE BOOK WORKS WONDERS! :) :) :)

My S went from:
Nov 06
CR 700
M 550
W 720
Total: 1970

Jun
CR 760
M 660
W 740
Total: 2160

He did practice tests in the Blue Book. Also, he had taken Testmasters previously, and he went back and reviewed his Testmasters book. In addition, in math (his weakest subject), he looked up all his wrong answers on the practice tests and figured out how to do those problems correctly.
